An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
When talking
about relationships, Colin shingleton’s seems to be an interesting topic to
talk about, especially his unique type of girl. His type being, girls names
Katherine. To be specific, K-a-t-h-e-r-I-n-e and only that version of the name.
To be exact Colin has dated and been brutally dumped by the nineteen Katherines
he has dated. After graduating high school, and being dumped by Katherine XIX
the over stressed mess of a child prodigy, Colin and his unique character of a
best friend Hassan go on a road trip to try and find what Colin has been
looking for after his most recent breakup.
With 10,000 dollars in their back pocket and a mysterious federal agent
not far behind, Colin and Hassan are off with hopes that a mathematical
equation Colin seemed to gustier up along the way will predict the future of
any relationship.
This story,
surprisingly interesting and very addictive, keeps readers coming back all the
time. With suspenseful chapters and intellectual yet humorous dialogue between
characters this book is something that will always keep you laughing. While
reading, you will learn that everyone has problems no matter what their life
seems to be like on the outside. This story lets the readers feel as if they
were in the backseat on this road trip with the extensive amount of detail it
packs in. author John Green has outdone himself once again. The book was a
2007 Michael L. Printz Honor book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book
Prize. It was also named one of the books of the year by Booklist, Horn
Book, and Kirkus.
This story is defiantly one that will keep you reading. The
connection you feel with both Hassan and Colin is very deep as they both go
through things that you will be able to relate to. The story end with the thought and wonder of
what Colin did after he found his answer.
