The Red Pyramid

The book I read is called The Red Pyramid and it is written by Rick Riordran. The red pyramid is the first book of a trilogy; the other books are called The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow. I haven’t read the other books so I would not know how The red Pyramid compares to them. One theme from the story could be to not give up and to face your fears. This is the theme because through the whole book, both Carter and Sadie have to do stuff that they are afraid of and have to keep going. I picked this theme because it comes up throughout the whole entire book. They both overcome many challenges such as turning into birds and flying into a library, rowing down the river of the dead to get into the land of the dead on Anubis’s Golden boat, fighting Set, and saving the world. The two main characters are a brother and sister and are named Carter and Sadie. The brother and sister go on a long journey across the world that brings them closer to the truth of their family links to a secret order.

The story is about a brother and sister named Carter and Sadie that go on a dangerous journey trying to find their family links to a secret order. They are going on this journey because their father was banished into the oblivion by the Egyptian god, Set. Their father was trying to make things right for their family but instead released the god that banished him. Their father released the god inside of the British Museum. The brother and sister are trying to find their father and also to see what happened to their mother. This book is a fiction book that is full of action and is amazingly written.

The quote that stuck out to me the most was “It takes strength and courage to tell the truth” (Riorden 365). This quote stuck out to me because I think it is completely true. To tell the truth when it might not be in your favor, it takes a lot of courage and strength because if you say it, it will be bad against you. Another quote that stuck out is “Have you ever noticed how parents can go from the most wonderful people in the world to totally embarrassing in three seconds” (Riordan 502). I also liked this quote because I think it is 100 percent true, parents can be awesome and then a second later make you feel extremely embarrassed. The reason why I picked that quote is because I find it funny because it is true.

I extremely enjoyed this book, it was boring in a few parts where it is just talking but most of the book is amazingly written. I really enjoyed this book because of how well it is written and I love the action the book has. I like the action because it is written so well and the author seems to know exactly what he is doing. The reason why I don’t like a few parts in the book is because it is just a little slow; I think it is slow because Riordan is trying to explain what has happened. This book is definitely a book to read. The book easily hooked me because of how well it is written, I would recommend this book to be read because it will have you turning page after page like it made me do. This book will have you staying up late to read so I would recommend The Red Pyramid.
