Life As We Knew It

Life as we knew it is first book of this series written by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Other books include. Dead and the gone, The world we live in and the shade of the moon. Also there is a fifth in the series coming soon. You are reading a girl's journal named Miranda. Miranda lives in a small town in Pennsylvania with her mother, older brother Matt and her younger brother Johnny.  Life as we knew it is a emotional apocalypse survivor book.

It's the end of Miranda’s sophomore year in high school. Hearing conversation friends Sammy and Megan. Apon Miranda hears reports of meteor on collision course with the moon. Miranda keeps this adventure all in her diary. But when the meteor hits, the impact pushed the moon so close that it blocks out the sun light and you can see every little detail of the moon. Moon so close to earth the moon is  causing worldwide tsunami, earthquakes, volcanic eruption and extreme weather. Along with food, electricity, heating and gas shortages. Miranda, mom, Matt and Johnny have uncomfortable limited options to survive.

I like this book because it can show a possible and frightening effects of the near future worldwide effects if the moon was any closer to earth. I would like to recommend this book to anyone who likes sci fi or likes a moving story about a family living in this situation. If looking for book series that will make you think about what would you do if the world was like this. And this only is just the beginning.

Life As We Knew It

My book report is on Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. She has over 45 books, three of which are sequels to this book. This is the other books in its series:

The Dead and the Gone

This World We Live In
(http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6393972-this-world-we-live-in)

The Shade of the Moon

These three books are the continuation of the one I’m reviewing from different points of view/ continuation of this. She also has other books, but they range from children picture books to young adult. Life as We Knew It is about a family trying to survive a crisis after an asteroid hit the moon.

The book is a 16 year old girl named Miranda Evans. Just a regular teenager in a small town in Pennsylvania. Her life is normal, she has an older and younger brother named Matt and Johnny and her mother. She also has regular teenage problems like her two friends who like her but hate each other. But once an asteroid hits the moon it all turns to chaos; people start racing to stores to get as much supplies as possible. The world Miranda knew turns upside down. Next thing she knows schools, stores, and even restaurants are closing. This is a book that truly lives up to the survival nature as Miranda is stuck through bitter winters, starving days, natural disasters, and more. One thing truly is in the mind: How will she survive?

I recommend this book, especially to people who love survival type books. It is intriguing with the detail and the drama in every page making it a true masterpiece. It truly made me worried that this will actually happen and I wanted to go to the store and grab all the canned goods I could find! So what are you waiting for? Go read the book!
