The Lightning Thief

The book that I have read for this book review is TheLightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I thought the book was pretty good and was not too hard of a read. I mostly enjoyed it throughout the book and it was a pretty nice diversion. There are some things about it I liked and did not like however.

The book starts out with a boy named Percy who has dyslexia and ADHD. During a field trip with his class, Percy is attacked by his math teacher, who turns out to be a harpy. Unexpectedly, Percy's Latin teacher throws him a pen that turns into a sword. Percy defeats his math teacher and Percy's Latin teacher, who is actually the centaur, Chiron, takes him to a place called Camp Half blood. At this point it is revealed that Percy is a demi god, which is a half god half human. He goes to camp and is accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. Percy then has to set out on a journey to find Zeus' lightning bolt.

Overall I thought the book was good. I would definitely recommend it to someone else. I actually kind of think that this book has a certain kind of group it would appeal to. I say check the book out and if you don't like the first book do not continue to read the series.

The Lightning Thief

I read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by: Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson was a normal kid until he found out he was a demi-God, half human and half Greek God. As far as Percy knew his father left when he was younger. But when he finds out his father is actually the Greek God Poseidon God of the sea his world is turned upside down.

I highly recommend this book to everyone it's a really good book. I give it 5/5 stars and the cool thing is that it's a series so if you like the first book than there are more to read. I enjoyed the book because the characters are relateable. Rick Riordan describes the characters feelings so in-depth you can almost feel them as you read them. If you like to read this is a must have.

The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan writes a lot of books based on Mythology such as The Lost Hero and The Red Pyramid.

The Lightning Thief is about A 12 year old boy who learns his father is Poseidon the God of the Sea. This causes him to be target by many ancient Greek monsters. So after he is attacked by a mentor he enters a camp for demigods like him. There he meets a girl named Annabeth who teaches him about the Olympians.

I liked this book because I enjoy read about mythology and it gave a creative twist on it. The way they made the powers the children had differ based on what god they were the Child of.

I would suggest this book to people because it is an easy to read book. It also doesn’t require the reader to know much or if anything at all about Greek Mythology. It also has a very good plot that will keep you reading till the end.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

After being kicked out of just about every other boarding school in New York, Percy Jackson has to go to camp half blood with the other Demi-gods. Before Percy realizes his real power in the world, he goes through a huge realization of what his life hides behind the scenes. He first encounters a mythological creature when on a field trip with his class to the Greek history museum. His math teacher Mrs. Dodds turns into a gargoyle and attacks him.

The elaborately crafted novel by Rick Riordan “Percy Jacksonand the Olympians : The Lightning Thief is an amazing book. Percy battles with the troubles of the mythological creature encounters, and the burden that his mother has been taken. Throughout the book, Percy ignites the power within him that has been kept away for all this time. Percy discovers all of the secrets about the world, and the dangers that lie ahead of him are more than he could ever imagine.

Despite the fact that Percy is a little more naïve to the idea of monsters being real at first, and a little more dialogue than expected, this book is a great read. It makes you develop your perspective on the characters and the aspects the story carries on. Percy Jackson and the Olympians : The lighting thief is a great book for all ages, and a perfectly constructed page turner, from the streets of New York, to the palaces of Olympus

The Lightning Thief

The book I read was called “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan. This book is a part of the 5 book series. “The Lightning Thief” however had the worst ratings out of all the books. This book is about a 12 year old boy named Percy. Percy isn’t like other kids. He has Dyslexia, ADHD. Percy has a knack for getting kicked out of schools and had to attend 6 schools in 6 years. The main theme that I discovered was discovering identity. At the beginning of the book Percy doesn’t know who his father is and he doesn’t know of any powers that he has. Percy only thinks of himself as a bad kid who always gets in trouble. Throughout the book however, he discovers many things about himself and about who his father is.

Percy Jackson is different than the “normal” kid. Percy is a demigod which means he is half-human and half-god. Percy is the son of Poseidon who is the god of the seas. During this book Percy goes on a field trip to a museum. During this field trip a teacher morphs into a “fury” which then attacks Percy. While the “fury” is attaching it keeps telling him to give back the lightning bolt. Eventually Percy learns that the master lightning bolt has been stolen from Zeus. Percy is then accused by the gods to be the one who stole the lightning bolt and has to go on a dangerous journey with his best friend Grover who is a Satyr. A Satyr is half goat half human with the legs being goat legs. Annabeth also attends Percy. Annabeth is the daughter of Athena. They are on a quest to find the lightning bolt and to clear Percy’s name. While reading this book there was one quote that really stood out to me. The quote was “"If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself”(Riordan 170). This quote stuck out because I can apply it to my life.

I loved this book. This is definitely a book for everyone. I am usually a sports book kind of guy but this book helped change that. This book never gets boring and the whole time I was curious as to what was going to happen next. “The Lightning Thief” is a must read book. Even though this book had the lowest ratings out of the series, the ratings were very high compared to other books I’ve seen. Specifically about this book, I like all the action that is packed into it. Percy is always in a dangerous position throughout the book, and it gets very nerve racking. In this book, things happen pretty unexpectedly, this makes for a not very predictable book, which in my case is a very good thing. Everyone should read this book.
