Walter dean Myers is an author of several books not only
Scorpions. On a clear day ,bad boy, monster, Darius and twig & monsters.
Each of these books talks about young boys who either poor or in Trouble, jail
,& gangs Sometime drug dealers. Scorpions is a gang that a 12 year old boy
is forced to be in for his older brother for his to make money for his appeal.
This boy is from New York City, who lives poorly. His name is Jamal he's 12
years old, Jamal is having difficulties , at home and at school. He have a 8
year old sister named sassy, who is a big responsibility of his when his mother
is at work. Although his mother has a job Jamal and his family still seem to
live a struggle.
Jamal is from New York City, a poor family who barely has
had thing. Kids bothered Jamal at school teased him about his shoe, his attire.
Jamal's principle even gave him problems because who his brother was, Randy was
a scorpion, slammer once Randy got locked up the gang Scorpions tried to get
little 12 year old Jamal to take his place and make money for his appeal $500
Randy was facing at least 7 years in jail. Jamal mother was even afraid for him
to hang around the Scorpions “Jamal you ain't been hanging around the Scorpions
,have you?”said Jamal mother. Jamal little sister sassy was his responsibility
while his mother was working. He had to make sure she eat ,and get ready for
school. Sassy was only 8 years old. Jamal didn't really want to join the
Scorpions he didn't want to sell drugs , he didn't have a choice that was his
only way of getting the money for his brother appeal.
This book was OK I didn't like it so much the majority of
what I read was interesting , i would recommend it to those who like to read
about youngins that have joined gangs and who sold drugs at an early age.
