November's Blues

The book I have read is called November’s Blues. It was written by an author named Sharon Draper. She has written over 27 books. Tears of Tiger and Forged by Fire are some of my favorites. November Blues compares to the others because they are a series of books that follows a group of teenagers and their life situations. The Obstacles they go through are much like the ones teens experience in everyday life. Sharon gives positive ways to deal with these things. In November Blues November finds out she is expecting after she loses her boyfriend? Mean girls at school begun to put a label on her. The toughest decision after telling her mother is figuring out if she wants to keep her child. At the end of it all she finds out she has more supporters than she could ever imagine.  The overall theme of the story is that is that in life we have decisions to make and the best thing to do is to have courage. Other than discovering she was pregnant November also discovered her courage. Once her little sunshine was born she knew at that very second what life would be better for the both of them. The experience only made her better.

November is a young teenage girl who had just lost her boyfriend to a foolish school dare. Josh pledged to a stunt that ended in a tragedy. Along with finding out her boyfriend/best friend had just passed away she finds out she is pregnant. Now November is left to make the toughest decision of her life. Throughout the story she must find a way to tell her mother and josh’s parents what she believes is horrible news.  Josh’s best friend who was more like a cousin Jericho steps up and decides to help November through the situation, but not even Jericho knows how to break the news to others. As time goes by and November begun to show she had more problems at school. Now she has to deal with judgment from outsiders. She is absolutely terrorized. Every time she had a chance to stop and think she would cry. Her tears only show how scared she was. She had also been very disappointed in herself and doubted her decisions.

I recommend this book to teenage girls. Today many girls go through the same struggles. Knowing how to face is it is the hardest part. Reading the wrong turns that November took will help them better understand what to do. I also recommend this book to teenage boys who believe dares can’t change lives forever. Josh’s silly decision left His family, friends, and girlfriend in awful situations. For anybody who enjoys being in suspense will love this book. While reading you will not want to put the book down until you find out November’s plan. Will she keep little sunshine or give her off to strangers she knows absolutely nothing about? I know what I would do. Go read November Blues immediately, find out November’s decision and compare it to yours.

November Blues

The book November Blues by Sharon Draper is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Every book that she has written always has a plot twist; she gives great suspense and never goes right into the problems of the characters in her books. She shows a story in my eyes of what could possibly happen to the other female teenagers out there in high school.

The book is about a teenage girl that gets pregnant and ends up keeping the baby even though her boyfriend is no longer around. In the book the characters are November, Novembers’ mother, Josh, Jericho, Dana, and Olivia. These characters all have a story behind this book, but the one with the most stories would be Jericho, he has so much pain and hurt behind his happy self in the book

This book is more for females then male. It would mostly reach out to high school female students because it’s about November having difficult situations that most females could relate too. The book that I would recommend to high school male readers would be “Tears of a tiger”. It would have more effect towards the male readers than “November Blues”. But this book doesn’t not only have an effect on people’s lives but gives those that might have a similar story to this encouragement that they can do what’s best for them not for others.
