Rumble Fish

This book is a realistic fiction story that will keep you turning page after page. This book shows that no matter how bad a situation is there is always a way to overcome it. Rumble Fish is one of S.E. Hinton’s best books. Her other books are similar but not in a series. They are all the same theme but have a different setting each time.  This book is about a boy named James who doesn’t have anybody to help him anymore in one of the toughest situations of his life.

In Rumblefish, James is dealing with many hardships of life including poverty, gang violence, death, and crime. He lives with his 2 brothers and his father in the story. His 2 brothers are named Steve and the other one is just called “the motorcycle boy.” This is because he likes to steal and ride any motorcycle he can find. With James always getting into fights and Steve doing the same, it’s hard to keep up with the difficulties in life. He had gotten expelled from his school and transferred to a different school for kids who behaved like he did. At that school some gang rivals want to get back at him for beating up one of their gang members. The motorcycle boy has always been there to bail him out but he’s not there this time.

I recommend the book to fans of the realistic fiction genre or who like a deep story. This book this book was very emotional most of the time and it was truthful in that it seemed like a real story that could easily happen.
