The Living

The living in my opinion was a very good book about survival, And about not taking things for granted because it could all dissapear in the blink of an eye. And I also liked it because it's not to “fake” I like books about stuff that could/did actually happen, and this is one of those books. This book is a very good book because, it not to “fake”.

The book starts off with the man that shy described as fat and bald, committing suicide by jumping off the side of the boat on shy’s first voyage.  Then on his second voyage is when everything goes wrong. First he finds out about someone an FBI agent that has been following him around the boat. Then he ended up kissing carmen ( she’s engaged to someone else), and she would not talk to him.then he found out that his nephew contracted Ramiro disease, which Is the same disease that killed his grandma. And when carmen found out she started talking to him again. and then the storm hit. And the boat got capsized by two huge tsunamis. And after all the chaos shy finds himself alone on a life boat with a large hole in it. And I won't spoil the whole book. But he ends up making back to land.

So in conclusion, all around this was a very good book. It has very good detail about the things that happen in the book. It has very good dialogue, it is a very good story about survival. And I would recommend this book to anybody that like books about survival. So I believe this is good book for anybody to read.

The Living

The living by Matt de la Pena. He has also written ball don’t lie, I will save you and Mexican whiteboy. His books are similar because they involve poverty and Latin heritage. The living is a book about a boy who is Mexican and is working on a cruise ship for money but then something unexpected happens.

In the living shy (the main character) is working on a cruise ship and his family is back home in San Diego. He befriends the others working on the ship with him such as Carmen, Rodney and Kevin. Shy and Carmen have a connection because they’ve both had family killed by Romero disease. But Carmen has a fiancĂ© back at home and she has to decide between him or shy while the biggest earthquake ever recorded hits California.

I personally really like reading the living because it’s not just about some apocalyptic world we get to go deeper with the characters and hear about their problems and their families problems. This book is good for all ages and if you have any spare time I strongly suggest reading it. Go read!
