Monster

The book I am reading is called monster. The author of my book is Walter Dean Myers. He is a very good author he has a few another great books that i’ve read. Like slam which is about a teen basketball star. Monster is basically about a teen boy being charged for murder which he didn't do and he might spend 25 years to life for it. The theme is choose the right people to hang around

Steve has a best friend named king who is guilty for the crime. But Bobo is the person that came up with all of this and Osvaldo the look out. Is trying to say Steve was involved in the crime. But a sense that was very interesting when Osvaldo have to explain how he got into a gang by cutting someone but he was saying he was scared of Bobo but it's really just because he's trying to put Steve in jail which is funny because he's putting someone in jail just so he won't get in trouble.

I actually loved this book I would read it over and over its a very interesting book with a lot of suspicion if you like a book about things that happen in real life to a black young man. The book was basically written for black young man that make bad decisions and are about to start paying for it. You should really read this book it's actually teaches you a lot of stuff about jail and what people do just to stay out of trouble just basically just have real friends.

Monster

The book I read is called Monster and it’s written by Walter Dean Myers. He also written books such as Fallen Angels, Bad Boys and Sunrise Over Fallujah. The book Monster is about A African-American teen named Steve Harmon who is in jail and on trial for murder. While he is in jail Steve is documenting his experience in jail. He may get a life sentence if he is convicted of this crime. Some of the characters are James King and Richard “Bobo” Evans these two are also on trial for murder and could also face a life sentence. Another character is Kathy O’Brien she's Steve attorney but she has doubts about Steve innocence.  Another character is Sandra Petrocelli is the prosecutor she thinks Steve is guilty. I don't like this book because I think it's a stereotype on African American males but it's a good book. I think this book is for African American youth. I think you guys will like this book because it will open your eyes to lots of things and it's an New York Times Bestseller.

Monster

The book I read was Monster by Dean Myers. This author has written other books. A book that this author had also written is shooter. These books are similar because of the writing style on both books are similar. It is written almost like a script. The theme of this book is crime.

The book monster is about a teenager wrongfully accused of a crime. The main characters are Steve Harmon, James King, and Richard “Bobo” Evans. The book is Steve writing about what happens in his jail experience like a movie. He is in because he was accused of being involved in a robbery/murder.

I would recommend this book to others because it is really good. It keeps you interested and not want to stop reading. The type of person that would like to read this book is somebody who likes suspense and crime.

Monster

The book I read was Monster by Walter Dean Myers. Myers has written very many teen books including, Fallen Angels, Slam!, Street love, and many more. He has written over one hundred books. These books are very similar because many have to do with different things about life in Harlem and maybe some of his experiences. Monster is a look through the eyes of someone on trial for murder and the theme to me is finding yourself and peer pressure.

Steve Harmon is on trial for murder. He was said to be the lookout for a robbery which ended in James King (encouraged Steven to join the robbery) Killing the store owner. Kathy O’Brian is Stevens’s defense attorney and is suspicious of him because she doesn’t know if he’s guilty or innocent but she still tries her best to defend him. The book is written in a way a movie script would look and everything is in third person basically. “Sometimes I feel like I have walked into the middle of a movie. Maybe I can make my own movie. The film will be the story of my life. No, not my life, but of this experience. I’ll call it what the lady prosecutor called me…. MONSTER.”  (Myers, Pg. 4)

I would recommend this book to others. I would recommend it because if you are into crime and that kind of thing then this book will interest you. When the book goes between his time on trial and events in his past life it gives good insight on what kind of person he is and really gives you a chance to make some of your own conclusions.

Monster

The author has written over sixty award winning books. The book Monster has been chosen as his most popular book by far.  Walter Myers books are written of African American youth and the trouble that the characters have gotten into, and the struggles they had to prove their innocence.

Monster is about an African American sixteen year old boy who lived in Harlem. Steve Harmon is the main character in the story. The story tells about a kid who was accused of murdering the owner of a drugstore. Acquaintances of Steve got him into several conflicts including putting him in jail. Steve tried proving his innocence; Steve was determined to prove his innocence regardless of what the acquaintances were saying about him. His film teacher was very inspirational to his testimony believing that he was innocent and helping him proving it through the trial.  During Steve’s trial he takes notes about what is happening while in jail and during his trial, and he hopes to make a film about the struggles he had suffered with his notes. In his notes he writes his notes in scrip form so that it sounds and looks like a movie/ film theme; so if gives off the characters interest in filming.

I recommend this book because it shows that if you believe in yourself and you are innocent and you try hard enough that you can achieve your goal, through all the struggles and rough times, you can make it. Also I recommend this book because it goes through step by step of a struggling teenager and it changes people’s views on different things, it’s also exciting to see what goes on during the trail and keeps the suspense of if he’s guilty or not.  What make this book so good is all the pros and cons of the trail and in Steve’s live.  This book is different from all the books I have read in the past, this book has character, like it’s not just a narrator saying what’s going on all the time, it’s as if Steve is telling the story and it makes you want to keep reading.

Monster

The book monster is about a sixteen year old black male named Steve Harmon’s life after being put on trial for murder. The book is written like a movie script about his life after being sent to jail, and put on trial. He is being accused of being a participant of the robbing and killing of a local drugstore owner, Mr. Alguinaldo Nesbitt. In the beginning it has a lot of Steve talking to different inmates and his lawyer. Also there are flashbacks of before he was on trial. The other people on trial are James King and Richard “Bobo” Evans.

Towards the middle of the book Richard Evans goes to the stand and he admits being part of the murder and robbery of Mr. Nesbitt. Toward the end of the book Steve’s lawyer convinces him to go up to the stand, so he goes up and tells his story. When they’re looking through everything the evidence shows that Steve’s part in the robbery wasn’t really good. It shows he didn’t send a signal that the store was clear, there was somebody in the store, and he didn’t get any money out of the robbery.

When it gets to the end of the book Steve is proved not guilty and is released from jail. James king and Richard Evans are sentenced for murder and robbery of a person.  It also says that Steve says his dad can’t look at him the same anymore because he doesn’t know what he is like.
