Darksiders: The Abomination Vault is written by Ari Marmell,
he has written a number of guides for games like dungeons and dragons. The
story is for the most part in Death’s point of view. Death is the leader and
the oldest of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. In the book someone is
trying to destroy all of Creation (the universe). Not only does he have to find
out who is trying to awaked machines of mass destruction but he also has to
fight hoards of demons and with the help of his brother War, stop an
apocalypse.
The story starts off with Death meeting with the Charred
Council (overseers of Creation). He then learns that an Angelic outpost at Eden
had been attacked and then sent to figure out what happened. Before he leaves
the reader meets his siblings War, Strife, and Fury. These four are the last of
the Nephilium, a race made from the union of Angel and Demon. At the angelic outpost
the reader is introduced to the Angel of Death, Azreal, and the Angel General
Abbadon. ” Pray to your god that I am
wrong” Death.
I enjoyed the book, but what helped was that I also played
both games and enjoyed them immensely. I liked it because it was something
different from most of the books I read, most books are modern or a certain
time period and then there are books with their own universe Darksiders is one
of those books. If you don’t like a book that has blood and gore, I would not
recommend this book for you. The author describes huge battles that are both
gut wrenching and bloody. I would also recommend playing the games just so that
you understand who and what is going on.
