The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart is the first book out of the four book series. In this thrilling novel four orphans are brought together by the curiosity of a newspaper add stating this offer “ARE YOU A GIFTED CHID LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?”(Stewart 3). After extensive testing and the weeding out of many other children; Reynie Maldoon, George Washington (Sticky), Kate Wetherall, and Constance Contraire where picked to be a part of a secret group later to be called The Mysterious Benedict Society. This group was formed by a brilliant man named Mr. Benedict along with his two assistants and body guard who are try to save the world from destruction.

After being chosen to be a part of this group the children are brought to the house and briefed on the situation which is basically that subliminal messages were being sent through the T.V. and practically brainwashing people. With only a few days to prepare the children were enrolled in the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened where they began to collect information about how the messages were sent and what the under lying goal is. They soon find out what is going to happen but they didn’t realize how fast this change was going to happen and how much it is going to affect the world. Unless these four kids can stop Mr. Curtin (the master mind) the world will change forever. Throughout this process the kids are not only saving the world they also find who they are, their purpose in life, and finally where they belong.

I really enjoyed reading this book and when it came to the end I did not want it to be over. Throughout reading it I could hardly put the book down this novel has the perfect mixture of suspense, mystery and originality there is never a dull moment. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading mysteries or thrillers.

The Mysterious Benedict Society

The title of my story is The Mysterious Benedict Society. It's author  is Trenton Lee Stewart. This series has four books in it. This is the first of the series. The genre  is Si-fi. This is a story about teens saving the world. His only other book series is Flood Summer. I’ve not had the opportunity to read it.

           

This story starts with an ad in the newspaper has given a question, and people have come to answer. Only four children have made it thru. All four are orphans. Their names are Reynie Muldoon, George (Sticky) Washington,Kate Weatherall, and Constance Contraire. The four were then taken to see the head honcho, Mr. Benedict. He gives them a mission to infiltrate a school run by Mr. Curtain, a man  who looks remarkably like Mr. Benedict. The four are used to save the world from Mr. Curtain.

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I gave it that because it is well written with tons of detail but the book could have been shorter(at 500 pages). I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery or anyone that likes the author, Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler).Trenton and Daniel  both write books that make us wanting to read more and keeping is on our toes. A reason to want to read the book are if you like books with puzzles.

“The Mysterious Benedict Society” is the first book of Trenton Lee Stewart’s series, “Benedict’s Society”.

Today’s society revolves around technological advantages and schools for the smart, but what if you weren’t apart of the ruckus? Eleven-year-old boy, Reynie Muldoon grew up in an orphanage being different from all the other kids. He was the smartest child out of the orphanage, and all his advisors wanted him to excel to new heights of knowledge.

One fateful morning, while sipping his tea, he came across a headline in the newspaper, “Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?” How odd, a question directed to children who would read the newspaper. The Test would show how much talent you really possess. Without hesitation, Reynie signs up and the days pass until the testing day. Reynie stares at the enormous school and the long line of kids in front of him. Reynie will soon find out the danger of what people can do with too much knowledge.

The book revolves around Reynie and his three friends he encounters on his adventure. This mystery unfolds to be the darkest plan for the minds of the world. This book is a page-turner, and shouldn’t be dropped for the slightest second, for there is no time to think, or time to stop, when battling against wits.
