The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
This heart
wrenching, emotional story of Enzo and his almost human life will bring to your
eyes as you read about all of Enzo’s accomplishments, struggles, and tragedies.
As the story jumps from his owners’ perspectives, showing all their emotions,
back to his, you will get more than a handful of lessons, feelings, and ways to
deal with tragedies. Enzo is always thinking of others before himself, which
sometimes back fires on him. Throughout the story Enzo learns how fun, and how
difficult it can be/ is to be a human with opposable thumbs. Oh how he wishes
he could have opposabe thumbs, as if to say he wants to grasp evey perfect
moment in life he can just like his faithful companions Denny, Eve, and
Zoe. ( Denny: owner, Eve: wife, Zoe: daughter of Eve&Denny)
The only thing
stopping Enzo from being human is his “ lack of opposable thumbs “ to grab hold
and carry things. Racing In The Rain is a well written book. It is written in
the point of view of a mans best friend, a dog. The main character, Enzo the
dog, is trying as hard as he can to live his dream life of being a human. His
owner, Denny, is a race car driver and treats his trustworthy pal like one of his
children. He worries about Enzo when he's home alone and even takes Enzo to his
racing events! As if he knows that on the inside, Enzo is human at heart.
The story is
narrated by the one and only Enzo, and his journey trying to fulfill his dream
of being human, like his best friend Denny. Racing in the Rain is a great novel
to read! Although you might get emotional or emotionally artached to the
characters, its a very well written story. You feel like you are living each
persons life as the author puts alot of imagery and well thought out events in
a oerfect order to kepp you turning pages. It makes you think about how others
feel in many situations, that may be similar to yours! If you love heart
wrenching action stories, this book is for you!
