Intro: Second Chance Summer is written by Morgan Matson.
Morgan Matson has also written Since You’ve Been Gone and Amy and Roger’s Epic
Detour. All of her books are targeted toward a teen audience. They all discuss
teen relationships and dilemmas. The theme of this book is that no matter how
long you’ve been separated from a relationship or place, there is always that
love that can be re-created.
Summary: Taylor Edwards is going to be a senior in the fall.
But before she gets there, she has to deal with a few bumps in the road during
her summer. She finds out some unsettling news about her fathers health. Her
family is taking a trip to their lake house that they haven’t been to since she
was 12. The last time she was there didn’t end the way she planned; She has to
face her old child hood friend, Lucy, and her first boyfriend, Henry. Old
relationships have to be rebuilt and new ones created.
Analysis/Review: I think that other readers that are in
their teen years should read this book. Any child who suffers from not having
strong relationships with their parents could relate heavily with this book.
This book also will relate to teen girls with boy issues. Anyone who likes to
read about young adult relationships should read this book soon. I think a lot
of teens can relate to this book and should give it a try as soon as possible.
