Demon Thief

Demon thief by Darren Shan is the second book in the Demonata series. These books are very good books to read if a horror reader.

This book is about Kernel Fleck(yes that is his name) and his struggle to find his brother in a universe that he doesn’t quite understand. Kernel has an ability to build portals between our universe and the demon universe. This ability is also able to build portals between the worlds in each universe. In the demon universe he meets people like him that are looking for the same demon that stole his brother. They travel through many worlds and finally find the one world that they are looking for. And when they get there they must play a game with the head demon in the world. This game is life and death, if they win they get the answer they are looking for, but if they lose they die and they have to serve the demon for all eternity.

I loved this book it has just the right amount of suspense and horror that you don’t want to keep reading but you do at the same time to find out what happens. I would definitely suggest this book to anyone that is looking for a good book to read over winter break. If you want to continue the series then go back and read the first, third, fourth, fifth, etc.

Lord Loss

Lord Loss by Darren Shan

This book is about a boy named Grubbs and his journey through a world that he though never existed.

Along the way he learned about demons and magic from his uncle Dervish.  Dervish teaches him all he can about demons and magic. When Grubbs finds out that his parents were murdered by a demon know as lord loss he asks dervish to teach him everything he knows on lord loss and how to kill him. When Grubbs finds out that the only way he can attempt to ki9ll him is by playing a game of chess he puts all of his free time to becoming the best chess player. At the end of his journey he learns that there is more to this world than meets the eye.

This book was really good; it always kept me wanting to read more and more. This book is quite scary and is a very good book to read during the month of October. It was very descriptive when it was at it’s scariest. I highly suggest not reading this book at night because it is quite scary. Darren Shan did a great job writing this book. He wrote 10 book on this story line and how Grubbs defeats the demons of his nightmares. I would highly suggest this book to any person is looking for a good horror read.
