17 and Gone is a very unique story, strangely protrade by
Nova Ren Suma. Suma has also written ImaginaryGirls, Dami Noir, and The Walls Around Us. The only thing that all of her
stories have is that they are based around the lives of girls. All of her
stories are told through first person, through the eyes of the main character.
The theme of 17 and Gone is no matter what, never give up. The main character,
Lauren, had faced many difficulties
trying to find and help the long forgotten 17 year old girls.
People go missing all of the time but nothing could prepare
17 year old Lauren for what was going to happen. Lauren starts receiving
visions of girls who have gone missing.
Invading her dreams, all of the girls have one thing in common, they’re 17 and gone without a
trace. As Lauren searches for the truth and everything begins to unravel, she
lands in the hospital. A shocking truth will emerge and change everything.
17 and Gone was a mediocre book to read. I feel that the
book itself was unsatisfactory. I thought it was going to gradually grow more
as a story but it was kind of a waste of time. The characters didn’t really
have any good personalities (all seemed to be rapacious). Also, the topic of
girls being abducted or running is a little apprehensive.
