The second book in the ranger’s apprentice series is about Will and his friends Horace, Evanlyn, and Gilan a current Ranger and former apprentice to Halt, Will’s mentor, are In a country called Celtica going to ask for their aid in the upcoming battle with Morgarath. But what worries them is that all of the celtic people have disappeared and there is no sign of conflict. When Gilan goes to till the king and the others walk back they find a group of Wargals (Morgarath’s army) and they decide to follow them and discover what Morgarath’s plan really is to the battle between him and the kingdom.

I recommend this book because of the author, because he is a great writer and describes everything in the scene. He also gets you loving all of the main characters in the book. Also this is a great series that millions of others have bought. And all the readers love the series and so will everyone else that does.

Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan: Book 1

The book I am writing about is called Ranger’s Apprentice-the Ruins of Gorlan; Book 1.  The author’s name is John Flanagan and he has written 12 books in the Series of the Ranger’sApprentice.  They all relate to this book because it’s about the same characters.  The theme of this story is to think before you act because Will did things while he was learning to be a Ranger that he should have thought about before he did it.

Ranger’s Apprentice is about a boy named Will and he is an orphan from birth because his father died a hero and his mother died in child birth.  He is growing up at the Castle Redmont, which houses numerous orphans that the Baron Arald is raising.  Due to his father’s legacy, Will wants to be a knight in the Army.  However, he is a small boy and not big enough for the Army.  Will learns to accept his small stature and makes the most of it.  He has an uncanny ability to know how to sneak around and be resourceful.  This is why the Ranger Halt wants him to be part of the Rangers so he asks if Will would want to be a Ranger’s Apprentice.  The story also sometimes attends to his friend Horace who is accepted into battle school at Castle Redmont to become a knight in the Army.  Will and Horace’s relationship evolves over time.  They begin as enemies at the Castle, with Horace bullying Will, and then Will saves Horace from a boar, and their friendship begins.

I recommend this book because it has an amazing cast of characters you will get to know right away.  This author tells a dramatic story immediately and it continues throughout the entire book.  The author also describes every detail about what is going on and what the scenery looks like. This book is also a New York Times Winner as well as the rest of the series.  I highly recommend it.

The Ranger's Apprentice: The Burning Bridge

The Ranger’s Apprentice: The Burning Bridge is an adventure and action packed book, much like its predecessor The Ruins of Gorlan. This book is sure to have you reading on and on.

Halt and Will are chasing a group of wargals, suspecting that they are hunting somebody. They find four wargals chasing a man, kill the wargals after they kill the man, and find battle plans from Morgarath in the man’s bag. Later, Gilan shows up in their house late at night on a mission to the city of Celtica. Gilan, Will, and Horace set off to Celtica, and are surprised with what they find. They find Celtica empty, and Gilan goes to inform the king. Alone, Will and Horace along with a survivor discover something that could change the course of the war. Horace sets off to inform the king of their discovery. In a twist of events, Will and Evalyn find themselves in trouble. Meanwhile Halt, Gilan, and Horace are preparing for war.

I really enjoyed this book, because much like the book before it, it is filled with action and adventure. It is filled with plot twists, cliffhangers, and description, leaving you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next. The dialogue makes you feel as if though you are in the story, and the action makes it seem more realistic. The Burning Bridge is definitely a book worth reading.

The Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan

The Rangers Apprentice: The ruins of Gorlan, by John Flanagan, is an adventure filled book, taking place in medieval times, sure to hook you in and have you reading non-stop.

Will is anxious but nervous for choosing day. He has been waiting for this day for years, hoping to be chosen as a knight apprentice. He and his friends are chosen for separate schools.  unfortunately for will, he is not chosen for apprentice school. instead a mysterious figure known as halt the ranger gives the baron a note regarding will. The baron leaves the note on his desk. Will curiously went after the note, evading guards and climbing the castle with ease. what he finds in the note changes his destiny and embarks him on an adventure training, chasing monsters, and trying to discover what the evil Morgarath has in mind for them, saving lives i the process. The story varies between will and his rival Horace’s points of view, showing you their struggles and how they're lives are connected. Them, along with other characters form a setting and story sure to have you wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book due to its setting and storyline. I have always been interested in action and adventure books. The story’s theme is intriguing and had me sitting at the edge of my seat wonder what happens next. The book switches from point of view to another, cleverly forming cliffhangers and leaving me making inferences about what will happen next. The book is full of description, making you feel as if though you were right in the story. The Rangers Apprentice is definitely a book worth reading.

The Brotherband Chronicles Book 2: The Invaders

This book is titled The Brotherband Chronicles Book 2: The Invaders, by John Flanagan. He is the author of the previous book in the Brotherband series, and ten other books in the Ranger’s Apprentice series. It is about a group of young Skandians trying to redeem themselves after the Andomal, Skandia’s most prized artifact, gets stolen under their guard. Now they must seek out a pirate by the name of Zavac, kill him, and retrieve the treasured Andomal.

A group of young Skandian warriors, led by their Brotherband leader, Hal, are sent after a ship called the Raven and its pirate leader, Zavac. The Heron Brotherband, made up of Jesper, Edvin, Stefan, Stig, Ingvar, Ulf and Wulf (twins), Hal, and an older, powerful warrior named Thorn, sail Hal’s ship, the Heron, across the ocean. Each member of the brotherband has his strengths, but Thorn must shape them into much better fighters, able to defeat the Raven. When they hear that Zavac has taken over a nearby city, the Herons travel there, seeking to recover the precious Andomal and gain revenge. Accompanied by capable fighters from the city and warriors from the Skandians’ home, they form a plan to take back the city and kill Zavac in the process. Will they succeed? Flanagan writes: “’It’s Wolfwind,’ Thorn said quietly. Hal’s shoulders slumped in despair” (Flanagan 227). This is when the Herons spot the Skandian warriors’ ship, Wolfwind, and think that they are there to return the brotherband back to Hallasholm, the capital of Skandia. The Herons don’t want to return yet, because they know they would do so in shame.

I completely enjoyed this book! I thought it was very interesting, riveting, and even a bit educational. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read action packed books with great suspenseful moments. It taught me a lot about ships, how they work, and the names of the parts of a ship. I loved the setting and plot of the story and can’t think of any way to make the book better. Full of action on every page this book left me craving the next one in the series. It is an exciting page-turner full of nautical description and high adventure.
