House on the Gulf

For my book review i choose House On the Gulf by Margaret Peterson Haddix. This book compares to her other stories in the following ways, most of her stories are mysteries or have a mysterious plots, her stories all have surprising twits, and they are all in first person narrative. When Britt's older brother, Bran finds a job house sitting for the Marquise's it sounds like a great opportunity for the family. Their mother can finish college and they get to live in a real house for once. But when Bran starts acting suspicious hiding the Marquise's mail and not letting anyone touch the thermometer Britt starts to wonder if they are supposed to be there.

This story is a mystery that you will have to read to believe. Why has Bran Britt's once caring, trustworthy and reliable older brother suddenly started acting as if there is something to hid? and how could the Marquises neighbors not know the Marquises hired a house-sitter for the summer? This book quickly gets interesting, leaving you on the edge of your seat wondering whats going to happen next.

I did like this book because there was never a dull moment. Each page was filled with new questions that made you finish the book to find the answers. When i finished the story i was left in awe because of the shocking ending. I would suggest everyone to read this story. But it is a really easy read so if you were looking for a more challenging read I would choose a different book.
