Lord of the Flies was written by William Golding author of
other books such as, The Inheritors and Pincher Martin. Lord of the Flies was
written to show why the world has rules and what happens when there are none.
Lord of the Flies is about a group of boys stranded on an
island trying to survive. Most of the book revolves around the conflict between
Jack and Ralph as each tries to assert themselves as the leader of the boys. At
the beginning of the book they are just trying to survive on the island and not
die. But everything changes after a disagreement on whether they should focus
on hunting or keeping the fire going between Jack and Ralph. After the argument
Jack tries to undermine Ralph’s authority and everything goes downhill from
there
I would not recommended the book to anyone I feel like the
book focused too much on Piggy and Ralphs relationship. I would rather know
more about the other characters like Jack and Simon who were more interesting.
I would not buy this book the only good part was the last two chapters where most
of the action took place. But if you were too look at the book as a metaphor
you may like it. Because then the book becomes more about the idea and not the
characters. I did not like the book but it is a “classic” and there may a
deeper meaning of the book to you. To me it just felt like a chore to read.
