The Hunger Games

The book that I read is called ‘The Hunger Games’ being one one the most popular books ever written. It’s unique way of writing was very intriguing to my view, being a very unique story on the protagonist's point of view. This book was written by Suzanne Collins. She has written a few Hunger Games books including, Catching Fire, as well as Mocking Jay.

They story is basically about Katniss Everdeen, also being the protagonist in this book. She lives in District 12 being one of the many districts that are divided. Theirs and event happening every year called The Hunger Games which would pick a male and female from every district to take place in these Hunger Games events. Rules are simple, in order to live you must survive in order to survive you must be the last one standing in order to be the last one standing, you must kill.

Katniss Everdeen is a hunter that leaves her district into the forest so she can hunt in order to feed her family. Things around districts are in struggle, so is up to her to feed her family. The Hunger Games are coming up and when day comes she chooses a heroic act to save someone she loves deeply.

This book was really inspiring in the sense that you have to be strong in order to survive in this world and I love that I can relate to that. If you are looking for a book to entertain you, have action, and show you a lesson in life this would be a perfect fit for you.

Catching Fire

The book “Catching fire ” was written by Suzanne Collins. I personally think this is a good book, because it's just like the movie. Suzanne has seventeen books but I think this one is the the best. The book is good because the book is about civilians playing a dangerous game trying to kill other civilians.

In the book there are teams trying to kill each other until one team wins and to make sure they are killing the other teams the cameras are watching them. But before they would go fight the teams would go practice and then get interview by the host.

I like this because it's interesting and it's a good book to read during reading time. This book goes with a couple more books because there's more of these kind of books. This book was probably written for the future. This is a really good book but if you don't have time to read a book, don't read this book just go watch the movie.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games will is good series of books if you are interested of an action, fantasy, and survival books. The author of this book is Suzanne Collins. This book compares to the other books it's have a great notional of care and love for her family. The theme is must kill in order to survive.

The story is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. She lives in a district with with a lot of people. There is an event where a group of people from each district and those people have to play unless a person volunteer theirself. The event is called the hunger games and they have to kill and survive. “ I volunteer as tribute” said by katniss is what struck me the most. She doesn't want her family to fight.

I like this book because it motivated me to watch and care for my family more, and love my community more. This book is for people that want to survive and care for their people they love. Or anyone that never read this book. This book is a wonderful experience you should read this book or add this book to your next book list.

The Hunger Games

The book I read is called The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. This book is a trilogy. The three books are called The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The genre of this book is science fiction, adventure, action, and some romance. It teaches you to have perseverance, loyalty, and strength.

There are a total of 13 districts. Every year, 2 tributes are selected in each district for the annual Hunger Games. One boy, one girl. Everyone fights to the death, and 1 winner is selected every year. Katniss, “The girl who was on fire,“ was selected to become one of these tributes. Will she be able to win, and come back to her family? Read the book and see!

This book is a must read! The storyline is easy to understand right from the beginning, and is really well written. There is also a movie to the book. I’m pretty sure mostly everyone would like this book because this book has many genres. Try this book out, and if you like it, there are 2 other books in the series you could read. You could always stop if you don’t like it.

The Hunger Games

Hunger games by Suzanne Collins

Suzanna Collins has also written a book called The Underland Chronicles that i have never read. It is also a best seller like the hunger games. The Hunger Games 2008 Catching Fire 2009 and Mockingjay 2010. The trilogy is set in our world but in a post-apocalyptic time. Katniss Evergreen lives in a cruel government of the twelve districts of Panem which was once North America. As punishment for a retaliation in the past the President (Snow) created the Hunger Games. One boy and one girl to is chosen from each district to fight on TV until only one child is left. Katniss who went to the games instead of her sister Prim . The guy that got picked to go to the games was Peeta who low key likes Katniss.

All the people from districts four to twelve hate the The president because he is the reason there poor and he makes them suffer. Katniss hates the President because during the Games because her new friend Rue was killed and she shows respect by laying flowers on her body. At the end of the Games, only Peeta and Katniss were alive and didn't want to kill each other. Instead they they tried to kill them selfs by eating poison Barry's so there will be no winners for the President. They let both of them win together. The other districts watching the Games just seen an act of rebellion and they want to see more.

You should read this book because it is a good way to pass time. You get hooked on it really quickly and you will always stay interested.

Catching Fire

I read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins because the book was a roller coaster of emotions, the hunger games (book one) was an attention getter creating popularity for the series. You can purchase this book at http://www.amazon.com/Catching-Fire-Second-Hunger-Games/dp/0545586178. The theme for this book is to never give up on what you believe in. Family always comes first no matter the circumstances.

Catching Fire is about Katniss Everdeen that lives in district 12 with peeta who were the victories of the last hunger games. They were gaining popularity and had to go back into the games against the other victories of the games. The games created a rebellion that Katniss didn’t know about; she broke out of the games to a safe place known as district 13…

I would recommend this book to a person who is into action, adventure, rebellion, romance, “nail biting thriller”. This book is number two out of a series of three; the third book is Mocking Jay.

The Hunger Games

The book I read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. She wrote the rest of the books in the Hunger Games serious, and the book I read was the first of the series. In contrast to the other books she has wrote, these are very similar. They cover the same themes of love and battle, and what exactly those things mean. In this book, Katniss Everdeen, the main character, is drafted into a battle to the death between the different “districts” of the society she lives in.

The books is a science fiction book. It is mostly centered on what happens to Katniss during the death game, but also has points about her relationships and thoughts about the situations she is in. This is why I believe the story has conflict of Character vs Society.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Science Fiction books. The story has lots of enjoyable action and the most enjoyable thing was the focus on what is happening to the participants in the survival games. You should pick up this book right now. It is the most enjoyable piece of literature the Science Fiction Genre has to offer, so not picking it up is a big waste.

The Hunger Games

I read the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This is the third book in the 3 book series. You can purchase these books on http://www.amazon.com/The-Hunger-Games-Book-1/dp/0439023521. The theme of this book is to cherish your family and you will love them no matter what the circumstances.

The Hunger Games is about a book where modern day America doesn’t exist. Instead of states, there are 12 districts. The main character, Katniss lives in district 12; the most poor of all the districts. every year, the capital holds an event called The Hunger Games and two children for each district, a boy and a girl must compete. In these games, you have to kill each other to survive and the last one standing is the winner.

I would recommend this book to someone else because it is a good, action packed book with a lot of "sitting on the edge of your seat." This book has a mixture of action and adventure and a little bit of romance. This book has received many awards including the Hal Clement award and the  Dorothy Canfield Fisher award.

The Hunger Games

My second book is “The Hunger Games” By Suzanne Collins. Some of her other books are Catching fire, Mocking Jay, and many more that can be found at http://www.suzannecollinsbooks.com/ . The theme of this book is similar to the other in the sense that when things are tough you need friends to get through them and sometimes to get over your fears you have to face them. This book is about a girl who is pitted against 23 others and in order to survive, she’s going to have to kill them.

The story is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. She lives in Panem, a futuristic U.S.A in which everyone lives in poverty except for those who live in the capital. Panem is divided into 13 districts in which one was destroyed in a war. Since then every year each district has to send two children to fight in an arena against each other. One year Katniss gets picked. In order to survive she’s going to have to kill.

This is a good book if you want action, drama, and adventures. After reading this I went on to read the other two because it was just that amazing. It is good if you are into alternate futures. If you need a good book to read then you should defiantly go and read this book right now

Mockingjay

Mockingjay is the third and final book of the Hunger Games Trilogy.  Written by Suzanne Collins, it follows Katniss Everdeen through the final conflict with the evil and cruel Capitol government and their leader, President Snow. Snow has treated the citizens of the surrounding districts like slaves who exist purely for the benefit and entertainment of the rich, privileged and undeserving citizens who live in the Capitol district.  The first two books in this series are Hunger Games and Catching Fire.  As the inhabitants of the twelve districts fight for their freedom, there are many battle scenes with plenty of violence.  Mockingjay seems to have more graphic violence scenes than the other two books.   The most violent scenes in Mockingjay show torture, human bodies exploding, ripped-off limbs and murder of children.   Mockingjay isn’t only about war and violence; it also contains many examples of the characters exhibiting love, friendship, loyalty and personal integrity. All three books have lots of action with surprising twists and turns,

If you are a fan of Suzanne Collins, there is more to entice you. She has also written a series of fantasy books:  Gregor the Overlander, Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods, Gregor and the Marks of Secret, and Gregor and the Code of Claw.  She has even written several picture books: Year of the Jungle and When Charlie McButton Lost Power.  You can find information about these books by following this link.  http://www.suzannecollinsbooks.com/
Main Characters:
·         Katniss Everdeen is the heroine of all three Hunger Games books.  She is famous for winning the Hunger Games, leading the fight against the cruel Capitol government, and being the Mockingjay for the rebellion.
·         Peeta Mellark is also famous for winning the hunger games.  He is in love with Katniss and is a major player in the book’s conflicts.
·         Gale Hawthorne is Katniss’s oldest friend and her hunting and battle partner who is also in love with her.
·         Primrose Everdeen is Katniss’s younger sister.  She has medical skills and wants to be a doctor.
·         Plutarch Heavensbee  is the former head gamesmaker at the Capitol. He has joined the rebellion; he tries to be a source of support and information to Katniss.
·         Haymitch Abernethy is teacher to Katniss and Peeta, but he is an alcoholic, and thus is not to be trusted or depended upon.
·         President Alma Coin is the leader of the rebellion who has desires to be in control after the Capitol is defeated.
·         President Snow is the cruel leader of the Capitol District; he controls operations against the rebels.

Mockingjay, as with the first two books takes place in Panem where democracy does not exist.  Panem is divided into thirteen districts with the Capitol district being home to the wealthy and privileged people who rely on the other twelve districts to provide food and resources for them.  Little is left for the providers of the food and resources to live on.  People of the twelve starving districts are rebelling against the Capitol and its evil leader, President Snow.  The twelve districts do not always work together to fight the Capitol; they do not trust each other.

Mockingjay begins with a look at Katniss Everdeen, the heroine of the story and all that she, her family and friends have lost because of President Snow, the Capitol District, and the Hunger Games which were fought at Snow’s command.   Katniss is convinced to become the Mockingjay, a symbol of the rebellion to be filmed and electronically broadcast to the District’s citizens.  It is hoped that she will be a centralizing leader that will persuade the District’s citizens to join together in the rebellion. Although Katniss was supposed to be just a public symbol of the rebels, she in an integral part of the brutal fighting.

The story covers Katniss’ struggles to reach the Capitol District and President Snow’s palace in order to overthrow the notorious leader.  Katniss is strongly motivated by her hatred of Snow and how he has treated the citizens of the twelve districts; she hates that her home has been destroyed and her family and friends left with nothing.  Most of all, she despises Snow for his treatment of her close friend, Peeta who has been tortured and mentally abused after his capture by the Capitol District.  Katniss is determined to rescue Peeta; she also demands that she be the one to execute Snow. She fights against the cruel monsters and weapons that Snow has created, tries to help Peeta return to his former state of mind when he loved her, and makes loyal friendships with others who want peace and freedom to return to Panem.

Strange new technologies, that can create all kinds of horrors, fill the battle scenes in the streets of the Capitol District as Katniss attempts to reach Snow’s palace.  Some of the strangest weapons were:   a bow that recognizes its owner’s voice with explosive tipped arrows, a Meat Grinder that chews everything in its path to dust, and pods filled with all kinds of objects that lead to capture or death for the rebels.  Examples of what some of the pods contained were: poisonous gas, sprays of gunfire, flesh eating rats, bombs, nets with barbs sticking from its wires, hordes of wolf, monkey or reptilian mutts who are animals in human form that pursue their prey relentlessly.  The Capitol District even developed a noxious, black, tar-like substance that covered the streets and buildings in an attempt to slow the rebels.  It is described on page 278 of Mockingjay:  “Black, oily matter sprouts like a geyser from the street, billowing between the buildings creating an impenetrable wall of blackness.  It seems to be neither liquid nor gas, mechanical nor natural.  Surely, it’s lethal!”

The rebels are almost completely defeated physically and mentally by the time they reach President Snow’s palace.  But there are several surprising twists and turns yet to come before the final confrontations are over.  You may be surprised by who the actual winners are.

One of the themes of Mockingjay is how futile and pointless war is.  The destruction, death and loss of loved ones are not worth what is gained by fighting a war. All that is lost during the war leaves little to be enjoyed, even by the victor.  Another theme that runs through the book is that you never know who to trust for sure.  People who you thought could be trusted and follow a true course may have hidden goals that don’t follow what they portray on the surface.  Following this theme allows the reader to be really surprised by turn of events.  You think you know where the story is headed but you will be surprised.

The major conflict in Mockingjay is the continued effort by rebel forces to overthrow the selfish and cruel Capitol government and its leaders.  There are also conflicts amongst the 12 districts because         each is not sure where the other districts stand in the fight to gain some control over their lives.  There are numerous conflicts between characters that are even fighting on the same side against the government because of love triangle conflicts or conflicts about who is going to lead or control the fight or the country after the fighting is over.

Whether the rebels will win the war over the Capitol government and gain some freedom, resources and control of their own lives is one of the central ideas of this book.  Another central idea running through the book is who will Katniss choose as a life partner, Peeta, Gale, or no one.  They both love her and she is not sure that she wants to be with anyone.

This book is recommended to readers who love action and adventure.  It is a fantasy set in a dystopian future with abused citizens rebelling against an evil power.  There is a lot of vividly described violence and suffering in this book.   If you don’t like to read about violent battle scenes with abuse, torture, and killing of innocent people in the process of building a story, this is not the book for you.  It is a very fast paced book with battle scenes that will amaze you with descriptions of high-tech weapons used in the battles and in awe at the amount of death, destruction and suffering that humans can inflict on each other in order to achieve their goals. It is definitely a book that will keep you turning pages, even when you should be doing your homework.

Mockingjay

Suzanne Collins started out her career by writing children’s TV shows. Some of the TV shows Mrs. Collins wrote include Oswald, Little Bear, and Clarissa Explains It All. Ms. Collins was also the Head writer for Scholastic’s Clifford’s Puppy Days. Collins is most known for her New York Times Best Seller The Hunger Games trilogy and The Underland Chronicles.

In the third Hunger Games book Mockingjay Katniss Everdeen having learned that her home in district 12 is demolished went to her new home in district 13 to prepare for battle to get back her friend Peeta Mellark who ex-president Snow has captured. Book number 3 has an action packed story line that will make you cry and cheer Katniss on on every page and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Will Katniss save Peeta? Will the end of the Capitol come? Loyalty will be tested. Find out in the exciting third book that may end the Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a Novel that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Suzanne Collins has written other novels as well, but is mainly known for writing the hunger games. Also included in theHunger Games series is Mocking Jay, and Catching Fire. The book takes place in the future, where the world is split into districts. The districts are sort of like countries, but you’re not allowed to leave the district you are assigned to. Each district is given a responsibility they are to obtain, such as providing coal. The Capital is the president of all the districts, and every year for his own enjoyment, he hosts the Hunger Games where the leader of your district picks two people from each their own district, or “tributes” that will compete. The Capital does this to witness the weaknesses of each district. At the end of the Hunger Games there is only one survivor. I believe this book is surrounded with the theme survival. I say survival, because everyone wants to live, but they can’t with the little food supply provided in district twelve. Katniss cares about her family, and knows they cannot survive without her. Katniss strives to live when she hunts for food. When she competes in the Hunger Games she does anything she can to survive, because she knows that her family needs her, and that is her main priority.

Katniss Everdeen grew up in District twelve with her mother, father, and sister. Katniss loved to hunt with her father. Her father would teach her new hunting tricks every day. Katniss’s father passed away when she was quite young, and from that point on her mother was so in shock that she could not even take care of herself. So Katniss stepped in to care of her younger sister, Prim. The day of the reaping, the day the district leaders and people of the World find out who will be representing District Twelve in the Hunger Games, Katniss’s sister got chosen to compete. Katniss knew that her sister did not have a high chance of winning the Hunger Games, which would mean death for her sister. Katniss could not accept that so she volunteered as tribute. From that point on Katniss and Peeta, the other main character who will be competing with Katniss, prepare for the Hunger Games, and whether they do or do not win, prepare to fight strong.

I would defiantly recommend this book to others, it is a great read! It will leave you on the edge of your seat with the dramatic events that occur making you want to read more. Such as when Prim gets chosen to compete, and Katniss volunteers. Prim is so young, and does not know a thing about hunting! She would be gone within the first hour of the Hunger Games! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good thrill or dram to read, because I am sure this book will satisfy.

Mockingjay

This book is titled Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. Collins is the author of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, both books that came before this one in the Hunger Games series. The theme of the book in my opinion is that sometimes, big objectives take big sacrifice. Katniss Everdeen had just heard the news that her home town was bombed by the Capitol. Now she must decide what her role will be in rebellion against the Capitol.

The citizens of the Districts are at war with the Capitol. They want freedom from their rule and don’t want to be forced into the Hunger Games anymore. After the Quarter Quell, the second Hunger Games Katniss has struggled through; she goes to her new home, District 13, after her old one, District 12, had been completely destroyed by the Capitol. Katniss decides to become the Mockingjay, the symbol of the rebellion. Her friend Peeta is in the hands of the Capitol, and she wants to get him back. President Coin is the leader of District 13, of the rebellion. She appoints Katniss with a new weapon and apparel. Katniss must survive the war and get Peeta back. The rebels must win the war and kill Snow, the president of the Capitol. “I want everyone watching – whether you're on the Capitol or the rebel side – to stop for just a moment and think about what this war could mean. For human beings. We almost went extinct fighting one another before. Now our numbers are even fewer. Our conditions more tenuous. Is this really what we want to do? Kill ourselves off completely? In the hopes that – what? Some decent species will inherit the smoking remains of the earth?”(Collins 25-26). In this quote, Peeta is talking to both the rebels and the citizens of the Capitol. He asks for both sides to stop fighting for the sake of humanity. I thought this quote was interesting because it is the only time in the book anyone asks for the war to end.

I thought this book was really good considering it was the first one in the Hunger Games series to not actually have a Hunger Games in it. I liked it because it was intense, interesting, and a good change from the other books. This book is for readers who like Science/Adventure Fiction and liked the books before this one in the series.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger games were written by Suzanne Collins. She has also written Catching fire and mocking jay, which are also books in the hungergames trilogy, she has also written the series the underground chronicles, and many more. This book is not too different to the other books she has written that I have read like catching fire. Since them both are written about the life of Katniss Everdeen and her district, District 12. She lives in a dystopia, where different types of jobs are specified by districts, like District 12 is for mining, and District 5 is power and electricity. Each district has there own special part in running Panem. Some of the districts want to rebel against the Capitol, who put on an event called the hunger games and they two tributes from each district. Then the tributes fight to be the last survivors of the games to win supplies and food for their districts.

The book is about Katniss Everdeen and her Mother, Ms. Everdeen and her younger sister, Primrose Everdeen, who have Katniss hunt for food although its illegal for people leave the district and to hunt but all the community members know about her hunting with her friend, Gale Hawthorne, both very skilled with their hunting weapon, Katniss’s preferred weapon is the bow and arrow, while Gale’s is some homemade traps. Many families in the district specialize in something like Katniss’s mom is a healer, and Gale’s dad mines, and another important character Peeta Mellark’s family makes baked goods. One day the capital calls for all the districts to gather in their town hall to have the tributes bee randomly chosen to fight. They all wait for the names to be called; one of the names is Peeta Mellark, the other tribute is Primrose Everdeen. But Katniss won’t allow for her sister to be killed in the Games, so she did something that no one has done in many years, she volunteers to take Prim’s place as tribute. If you want to know more you have to read the book for yourself.

I would definably recommend this book to anyone who likes action and adventure, and to someone who is new to the genre. This will keep you gripping on to this book so hard that you may lose you conception of time reading this book since you’ll be reading this book nonstop. I will give this book a 8/10 because in the beginning it does take a while to get to the action. But in over view I love this book and the other books in the trilogy. YOU MUST READ IT BY THE END OF THE MONTH!! This book is amazing. Just read it now!

The Hunger Games

The book that I read is the “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is the first book in the series. The second book is called “Catching Fire” and then the last book is “Mocking jay”. Out of the three books, the first book was rated the best. In this book 24 kids are chosen to go into the “Hunger games”. They must fight to the death in an arena. This is held to honor the war that obliterated the former district, district 13. Throughout the book many themes are displayed. In the end the book seems to have the theme of rebellion because the two main characters Katniss and Peeta do something very daring that makes the capitol do something much unexpected. In the beginning of the book the theme that is displayed would be government control, or poverty. District 12 where Katniss and Peeta live Is a very poor place. Each distract is owned by the capitol and everything is regulated by the capitol. The people in the districts have no say in anything that happens, this is where Government control comes into play.

In the Hunger Games, Peeta Mellark, and Katniss Everdeen are chosen to be the tributes from district 12. They travel to the Capitol where they are supposed to train and prepare for the games. Katniss loves to hunt and loves forested areas, they find out that the setting in the arena is a forest which is good for katniss. During the games Katniss goes to the cornucopia to get a bag of supplies to help her stay alive. Haymitch before had told Katniss and Peeta both to flee off into the forest, but Katniss didn’t listen. She almost dies in the first minutes of the Games but luckily doesn’t and flees into the forest which is the safest place for her too be since she knows a lot about the forest. The Hunger Games are nationally televised for all of the districts to see. Haymitch helps to get sponsors for Katniss and Peeta, with sponsors, Haymitch can send gifts to the tributes to help them stay alive. In the games there is only one rule, “Stay alive”.

I loved this book because there was always something going on. The book is action packed and a very well thought out book. During the book I always wanted to keep reading. I never got bored of this book and I think it is the perfect choice for any teenager or adult. I will continue on with the series and I hope that the next book “Catching Fire” is as good as this one was.

Mockingjay

Mockingjay” is the third book in the hunger games series, written by Suzanna Collins. I really liked this book and I can tell by the books I have read so far that Suzanna Collins likes to write about people who are going through hard situations, but through it all there is good in the end. The theme of this book is that anyone, even in the worst situations, can find a way to prevail. It just takes time and effort, but in the end it is all worth it. “Mockingjay” is about how Katniss is now the icon for rebellion and she has to find a way to end the capital reign of destruction with the help of a few friends. She has to lead the districts to victory in a huge war that is to end President Snow’s power. While this is happening, it is also Katniss’s job to destroy the capital by killing their leader, President Snow.

The book begins with Katniss getting out of the quarter quell, safely waking up to find out the rebellion against the capital has finally started and Katniss’s Mocking Jay pin is the rebellion’s icon. She also finds out that the capital has captured Peeta and she has to take part in commercials (called propos) for the rebellion to convince more people to join their side. Once the rebellion puts out one propo starring Katniss, they immediately start gaining people and becoming more powerful. The rebels took cover underground from a bombing by the capital. After this, Katniss made another propo while the rebellion rescued Peeta from the capital, but the capital brainwashed Peeta and now he thinks Katniss is. Once she starts fighting, she is shot. Once healed, she is put into a unit with Gale and Finnick. They plan to go into action while being filmed for propos, but before the unit leaves for battle, Peeta is assigned to join them. Early on, their captain, Boggs, gets killed and Katniss is assigned new captain of the unit. She tells them that she is supposed to kill President Snow, so the unit’s main objective now is to help Katniss kill Snow. The Unit goes through a lot and many innocent people and solders die for Katniss’s mission and she won’t stop for anything until the end and the job is finished.

I really enjoyed reading this book, probably even more than the first two because of all the questions it answered that I have been wondering about. This book was not relevant to me at all because of all the insanely huge obstacles the characters had to overcome. I would never go through anything like them. I would without any doubt in my mind recommend this book to anyone who likes excitement in their reading. There is so much action and excitement, it’s hard to put the book down. If anyone wanted to read this book, I would highly advise that they read the first two books in the series first or else they will be very lost and confused about what is happening. “Mockingjay” demonstrates overcoming challenges, including one of the roughest and a few of the saddest moments I’ve ever read. Besides those parts, the book ended on a very good note. When I was reading, I would never be able to tell what was going to happen next, which kept me on my toes and made it very hard to stop reading. Overall, this was a very good book that I really liked and I had a great time reading the Hunger Games series and wish it didn’t have to end.

Catching Fire

The book is titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. She is the author of this book’s prequel: The Hunger Games and sequel: Mockingjay. Like the prequel, this book is an Action/Science Fiction book. The message I got out of it is to always try to amend your mistakes and stand for what you think is right. In this book, Katniss and Peeta have just survived the Hunger Games and have returned home with riches and rewards, but their victory could lead to an enormous rebellion outbreak throughout the Districts of Panem. Will they be able to fix their mistake?

After Katniss and Peeta chose to both commit suicide by eating poisonous fruit instead of fighting each other to the death, the Gamemakers had no other choice but to let them both win. The citizens of Panem would not allow for there to be no victor. This is a sign of the Capitol’s weakness to the citizens of Panem’s 12 Districts, and many of them think that they should rebel against the Capitol. President Snow has threatened Katniss and Peeta to promote peace and make things right throughout Panem, or their families will die. President Snow sends Katniss and Peeta into another Hunger Games, this time called the Quarter Quell, with previous winners both as punishment and to hopefully restore peace among the 12 Districts. Can Katniss and Peeta survive another round of the deadly Hunger Games and save their families by preventing another deadly rebellion? “’Safe to do what?’ he says in a gentler tone. ‘Starve? Work like slaves? Send their kids to the reaping? You haven’t hurt people-you’ve given them an opportunity. They just have to be brave enough to take it. There’s already been talk in the mines. People who want to fight. Don’t you see? It’s happening! It’s finally happening!”(Collins 99). Gale (Katniss’s best friend) is telling Katniss that any future uprising would not be her fault. It’s what the people of the Districts have been waiting for: a chance to change their lives for the better. He’s trying to convince her to try to encourage the uprising, not prevent it. It is intriguing to me because of how much Gale likes the idea of an uprising.

As with the previous book in this series, I loved this book! It was suspenseful and intense. This book is for readers who like books with adventure, suspenseful moments and realistic settings. So many times I couldn’t help but read just a little bit more to see what interesting thing will happen, but then be led right back to the same feeling. Collins did a great job in making the book riveting. This book has left me more than eager to read the next book in the series.

The Hunger Games

This book is titled The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. She later writes the next two Hunger Games books. She is the author of the Underland Chronicles Series which is also an adventurous book and has many conflicts in it. I think the message in the book is to persevere through tough times and to never give up on your goals. In this book Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are sent into the Hunger Games to fight to the death. There can only be one survivor. Who will it be?

In the country of Panem, there is a great city called the Capitol (yes that’s really its name), and twelve smaller districts. Every year, the Capitol randomly picks one boy and one girl from each of the districts to fight until dead in the Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta are chosen for District 12 and are sent to kill each other, and 22 other contestants. Katniss encounters challenge after challenge in the arena, facing death multiple times. Being the underdog in the competition, she must prove to others that she can win the Games, go home victorious and bring glory to District 12. Katniss knows she can’t die or else her family will surely die. She is the one that puts bread on the table and takes care of them in many ways. “’Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to…to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games,’ says Peeta”(Collins 142). This quote was interesting to me because it shows that the Capitol haven’t quite killed the spirit of the people of Panem, they still want to be heard. It also shows how in control the Capitol is over the Districts.

This could be one of my all-time favorite books. With intense and suspenseful moments on every page, I sometimes found it hard to stop myself from reading! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves adventurous and intense novels. I am really looking forward to reading other books by Suzanne Collins and can’t wait to dive into the second Hunger Games book.

The Hunger Games

Suzanne collins is a novelist. She has wrote books such as The Hunger Games trilogy and The Underland Chronicles. Which both have been named best-selling by the New York Times. She is also a television writer.

The hunger games is a story about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. The story is told from her point of view. In the first few chapters you meet her friends and a get a  little of a backstory for her family.  You find out about a telivised event called the hunger games. The event is a competion between the 12 districts using one boy and girl from each district from the ages 12-18, making 24 children who are fighting to the death. The rules? One winner and one winner only.

When Katniss’s little sister is chosen to be one of the tributes, Katniss volunteers to take her place knowing if she didn’t Prim would die in there. Katniss had a chance to survive though, with her hunting skills. Peeta Mellark is chosen as the boy tribute. The bad thing about this is he’s secretly in love with Katniss. When the tributes get taken to the capitol the (only) rich district. You meet the 12th district’s sponsor (Katniss’s district) and you get closer to Effie trinket the escort for the hunger games.

To prep for the hunger games you are allowed a practice room where you will show the gamemakers your strengths. The ones you want to show that is. As the story progresses you see that katnss misunderstands Peeta’s love confession he has in the interview think it’s a ploy to get gifts during the games and more votes.  The end of the games is a ending no one ever thought would happen. I would tell you it but, why ruin a good book.

Thus story is amzing. Filled with feeling and suspense. Even with katniss’s negative personality,  the story progresses perfectly. It is a wondeful piece of literature and was made a movie for very good reason.

Catching Fire

The author of this book is Suzanne Collins. This is the second book to “Hunger Games”. There’s also a third book called “Mocking jay”. This series in now known to be one of the most famous teen series yet.  This theme of this book is loyalty and fear against your enemies, friends, and family. This is defiantly the most upbeat book out of all three.

Katniss is now living in district twelve with her family. She has riled up capital by threatening to swallow the piousness berries in order to force the capital to allow two victors.  The president of the capital decides to do something he has never done before. This terrifies the districts once again and causes one district to even rebel.  Katniss’s whole world is about to change, and she’ll have to fight to keep what she loves.

“Catching Fire” was an adventurous book that satisfied your craving for finding out what happened to Katniss after “The Hunger Games”.  Katniss and previous tributes are once again thrown into the arena by the capital, which was a twist on the story. You’re immediately intrigued by Katniss’s choice to try to keep Peeta alive. This story is eventful and exhilarating in every aspect of the book. You won’t want to put down this page turning novel. Will Katniss protect Peeta? Will the Capital play fair?  Or will it focus strictly on eliminating Katniss?
