Legend

Marie Lu has written Legend and 2 other books in the legend series. The legend series is Marie Lu’s best work and she plans to continue to write more books in the series. A young criminal named Day must survive in the world of poverty and disease. Day must also face the government who has been trying to bring him down and they have sent their best agent to do the job. However, Day and the agent trying to stop him find something out about themselves that will change history forever. This book is a thrilling, post- apocalyptic novel. It is filled with romance and non-stop action.

Legend starts off by telling you about a post-apocalyptic world that one of our main characters Day lives in. Day lives with a girl named Tess that he found on the streets many years before the start of the book. Day does not live with his family, but they think he is dead. He stays in shadows to avoid them but secretly gives them money and medicine to keep them alive for the plague that lives within the city. Day lives the life of an outlaw, always on the run and always being searched for. The other main character of the story, June, lives a life almost the opposite of Day. She is a perfect student born into a rich family on the other side of the city. Her parents were killed in car accident and she lives with her older brother in an apartment. June does not know it yet but Day's and June's worlds will soon collide.

I would recommend this book to anyone likes thrilling books about post-apocalyptic societies and romance. This book fits under many categories. If I could rate this book out of 10 I would rate it a 7. This book is a good read but there is many other books that could be read first. It is very similar to books such as the Hunger Games series or the Divergent Series. The book is well written and has its moments but the story line sometimes fails to explain why the world is in ruins. I would save this book and read it when you have nothing else to read on your reading list.

Legend

Legend was a very exciting book to read. It’s the first book in a trilogy, written by Marie Lu. The series is the only writing by Marie Lu so far. The trilogy includes Legend, Prodigy and Champion. The story is a dystopian fiction book for young adults.  The themes are rich versus poor and family.

In a future United States called the republic, there is a very big difference between rich and poor. Day and June, are both 15 years-old. June being rich comes from a military family. She is considered a prodigy in the Republics eyes. She always gets in trouble, with no parents she often leans on her older brother Metias. Day is a boy from the poor economic spectrum. Being raised in the slums of the republic he is the most wanted criminal. Day hates the Republic, and used his athletic and intelligent capabilities to attack their military bases and hospitals, and generally causing chaos. It is during one of these attacks that Day supposedly murders Metias.

In her hunger to get revenge, June is sent to find Day, and turn him in to the Republic. After posing as a girl from the slums, Day rescues her from a fight, either one knowing who the other is. After a little while, Day and June realize that they're falling for each other. But then, as Day is falling asleep, June starts to make little connections to Day and the boy. June reports Day to her commander. Day is brought in and is sent to a cell to await execution. They both learn they might have more in common then they think.

As I read Legend  I found myself enjoying it at times and being disappointed at others. My disappointment was because I found that there were just too many drawn out part in the book. It became a little boarding a times to stay with the story. The book had many good qualities also. I really like how the girl could stand up for herself. Another aspect I enjoyed was that the author went back and forth between the points of view of June and Day. The plot was very likeable and the characters were well developed.

All things considered, I truly enjoyed Legend  but at times it was a little too slow for me. I think this is a good book and other readers who like Divergent and the HungerGames so definitely check this book out.

Legend

Legend a timely novel that really takes a good atmosphere and a widely known subject someone can get into. This book was written by Marie Lu, who also made two more sequels to this book. This is a morally good book and really has the feel of the hunger games. Not only does it go by a dystopian atmosphere, it also portrays good twists and good relationships in the story. It even takes time to make everything descriptive and easy to read with about 300 pages. Its overall theme is a mix of twist and mystery, with a hint of a corrupted government.

So let’s say one thing to straighten a lot of what you might think, it acts on a hunger games ideal. Well that is a no; it definitively takes a stand at its own way of thinking what a bad government of country is. There is actually two governments not one, with them having a war against each other, one is the Republic which is the main place it takes place in, and the colonies, which for some reason has a lot of spies in the republics government. Now let’s begin, the main plot is of two characters viewpoints not just one in particular. A wealthy girl called June Imparis who was born in an elite family that works for the Republic, and Day or Daniel Altan Wing, a criminal who is wanted from the Republic. Now it seems that the events of this book get even more interesting as they unfold so I won’t get into the book to much, but I will start with this. After Day tries to escape a hospital base with antidotes that cure a plague that infests the outskirts of the Republic in Los Angeles, he is run into a corner with a gun pointed at him. The person holding the gun is a man named Metias who is the brother of the girl named June, and so Metias is the captain of a soldier squad for the Republic police that try to find spies, so no wonder she got so wealthy. With a knife in his hand, Day throws it at Metias and run to the sewers, torn from the fall he made out of a hospital window. Time takes place before June finds out that Metias is dead from the knife in the middle of his chest. She soon wants revenge and starts an investigation to find and capture Day, with the motive of killing him. That is what I am going to tell you so far over the book and that’s where it actually gets twisted.

Now I’m going to say this book is amazing for such a little writer that just started on this story as her introduction, and to be honest I’m amazed she’s gone far to go and make to more out of this one concept. It has a good after taste and really shines in descriptive and mystery standards, were it gives big u-turns and twists of the book to make want to read more and discover what was really going on. What many people look in a book is suspense and drama, many teens like this sort of thing (like me), and this book chucks a lot of that in to make it a thrill ride. So I can really say that many people around the ages of 13 to 18 will really like this, and it really controls and explains government and how wars work seriously and easily. So I can give a big 9/10 on this book, with some things kind of not making sense in some parts of the book.

Legend

The author of the Book “Legend” is Marie Lu. The book starts off with a boy named Day who is a rebel against the law. He has a family but; his family thinks he’s dead. He runs around pulling off little crimes with his partner Tess. Day is trying to make money to save up for a plague cure. The plague is a disease. Day is searching for the cures in a hospital and ends up killing this soldier who is the older brother of this girl named June. June hunts him down for the death of her brother but starts to like him while she is undercover. In the end Day gets captured and is sentenced to death but makes an escape with the help off June.

The story is about a boy searching for a cure for his family and to help save them from being sentenced to death. This boy kills a soldier who is an older brother of this girl who then wants revenge. This girl goes undercover to catch this boy but ends up staying to long and starts to like him more and more. They both like each other but then the boy finds out she has been hunting him down and waiting to arrest him. This boy is sentenced to death but this girl doesn’t feel like it’s the right thing. She then plans an escape plan with him and decides to break him out. Their plan doesn’t fully work so they wing it and get out just barley and decide to live and run together.

Legend is a thrilling book to read it keeps you entertained every time you read it. It has so many different plots and changes in the book and you have to think a lot more to keep up with the book itself. It has a good plot and the characters are all good characters. It ends in a very suspenseful and romantic kind of way.
