Natasha Friend has written several other 3 and 4 star books
such as “A Novel, Perfect, and For Keeps”. She is best known for children books
and young adult novels. Her most well-known book is “My life in Black and White”. This book is about finding inner beauty and discovering who you really
are.
Lexi’s life is
perfect. She’s the most beautiful girl in the 10th grade, has the hottest
boyfriend, and coolest best friend. Her dad’s a lawyer, and her mom is leader
of the PTA at her school. It’s not until Lexi’s best friend’s brother, Jared,
accidentally gets into a car crash that Lexi’s life changes in every way
possible. Her face, best friend, and world have been messed up. Lexi has now
had surgery on her face and is more insecure than ever. People are starting not
to think she is pretty, and she feels like she has completely lost herself due
to the accident. Will she be able to accept her new face and move on? Or will
she be in a “bad mood” forever?
This book keeps you
on your toes, and makes you re-think the true meaning of beauty. It talks about
friendships, betrayal, and life lessons the hard way. This is an amazing book
that is heartfelt yet realistic. It’s a must read book that is inspiring and
encouraging to look deeper down.
