The
book monster is about a sixteen year old black male named Steve Harmon’s life
after being put on trial for murder. The book is written like a movie script
about his life after being sent to jail, and put on trial. He is being accused
of being a participant of the robbing and killing of a local drugstore owner,
Mr. Alguinaldo Nesbitt. In the beginning it has a lot of Steve talking to
different inmates and his lawyer. Also there are flashbacks of before he was on
trial. The other people on trial are James King and Richard “Bobo” Evans.
Towards
the middle of the book Richard Evans goes to the stand and he admits being part
of the murder and robbery of Mr. Nesbitt. Toward the end of the book Steve’s
lawyer convinces him to go up to the stand, so he goes up and tells his story.
When they’re looking through everything the evidence shows that Steve’s part in
the robbery wasn’t really good. It shows he didn’t send a signal that the store
was clear, there was somebody in the store, and he didn’t get any money out of
the robbery.
When
it gets to the end of the book Steve is proved not guilty and is released from
jail. James king and Richard Evans are sentenced for murder and robbery of a
person. It also says that Steve says his
dad can’t look at him the same anymore because he doesn’t know what he is like.
