Divergent

The book Divergent is a very good book by Veronica Roth. Divergent is the first book in a trilogy and the other books in the trilogy are called Insurgent and Allegiant. The book, Divergent, is an action book that is about a young girl that lives in some time in the future. The futuristic city is where the main character lives with her brother. The main character is young women named Beatrice, her brother is named Caleb. The book is written so that you can see everything the main character sees. This book is a fiction book that is full of action. In the beginning of the book, the theme is that you have to grow up and get to an age that you might have to leave your parents and start your own life. In the book, Beatrice and Caleb both get to that age where they can start their own lives.

The book, Divergent, is about a young women living in some sort of future, the place she lives in is split up into these things called factions. The five factions are Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity and Candor. There is also a group of people that are factionless, the people in the factionless group are people that failed to complete their test to see what faction they would fit into. The factionless people live in poverty and do the work that other people don’t want to. Factions are basically groups of people. In the book, the main character reaches the age where the people have to take some sort of test to see what factions she could fit in. In the book, a conflict the main character has is when she is picking what faction she wants to go. Her mother said whatever choice she made would be fine. Later on in the book, a couple factions try to overthrow the government from the Abnegations and Beatrice has to try to stop it.

I found the tests to be intriguing; a few lines from the book are “The tests began after lunch. We sit at the lunch tables in the cafeteria, and the test administrators call ten names at a time, one for each testing room. I sit next to Caleb and across from our neighbor Susan” (Roth 8).

I would personally recommend this book to people because even though it got a little boring to me at parts, I found that this book kept making me turn pages. The reason why I didn’t like every part of the book is because at parts, I thought the book was a little slow, the reason why I thought the book would get slow, is because I just didn’t really find the book extremely interesting at all parts. I think the reason it wasn’t always interesting is because I just didn’t really enjoy it. This book easily hooked me because only parts of the book bored me, the majority of the book was really good and I loved how it was written, it was written as if it was made to hook everyone that started reading it. This book is for sure a book to pick up and read because it will have you hooked. Everyone should buy this book and read it because it is just written amazingly. I would describe this book as being a well written fiction book that everyone should read.
