Bud, Not Buddy

Bud, Not Buddy is a very good book.published in 1999, or won the 2000 Newberry medal. The novel also won the 2000 Coretta Scott King award. Bud is an orphan living in Flint, Michigan during the Great Depression. Bud has flyers from before his mother died of the man he believes is his father. He goes on a journey to find his “father", overcoming many obstacles on his way.

Bud is a ten year old orphan living in Flint, Michigan during the Great depression. Since his mother died a few years earlier Bud had been through many foster homes. The few items he has left of his mother ate a bag of rocks, a picture of his mother as a child, and flyers of Herman E. Calloways bands. When Bud gets put into a foster home of the Amos family, he fights his new brother and his forced by his new parents to sleep in their garden shed. He gets attacked by hornets in the shed so he runs away from the Amos house. Bud decides to find Herman E. Calloway (the man he believes is his father). He begins to walk a 120 mile trip to Grand Rapids where his"father"is...

This book is good.people should read it because it gives insight to the ways of life during the Great depression. It's very good, with a very interesting ending.
