The book “The Pledge” was written by Chandra Sparks Splond.
She also wrote “The Promise”, “Make it works”, “He's got game”’ and many more.
This is the first book I have read that is written by her. Her books are
usually urban fiction. This book is about a girl that is struggling with her
family at home and also her new relationship.
This story is about Courtland Murphy, A 16 year old girl
that lives. With her mother, alcoholic father, and her little sister Cory. She
was very eager to start dating but her mother told her she had to wait until
she turned 17. As her 17 birthday came around, she became even more. She
finally got what she wanted, she was dating the most popular, attractive guy in
school called Allen. Something was off about their relationship when Allen
started putting hands on Courtland. “Don't you ever question me about what I
see and what I do. Do you hear me?”. Allen had said to Courtney at one point.
The moral of the this story is always trust your guts
I love this book because of how dramatic it was, it was very intense and interesting. This book is for everyone but it is especially aimed to teenagers because it teaches you how to avoid the bad situations that you usually go through during your teen years. I recommend reading this book because it is very interesting and you can get great life lessons out of it.
