Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception

The book I read this trimester was “Lament” by Maggie Stiefvater. I haven't read any of her books before, this is my first time but I've seen some of her books and they're mostly in the fantasy section. To compare this book to other books I have read, this book has kept me entertained and excited to read this. The theme of this book is to move forward even when it gets tough through life and hardship.

The book is about a girl named Deirdre Monaghan and she plays the harp and before a performance she would throw up because she would get scared of playing in front of an audience. When she was throwing up she felt a boy’s hand holding her hair and she thought it was her best friend James but it wasn't by the the touch of her hair. She was embarrassed and was about to pull away then the boy said, “Don't worry about it. You're almost done.” When she was done she met the boy and his name was Luke Dillon. Deirdre and Luke played together for the contest and after the contest she started to fall in love with Luke. Farther in the story, Deirdre wants to know more about him but he doesn't tell her anything. When Deirdre started getting into Luke’s business she started seeing things that no one could see. Deirdre’s life started to change when she could see faeries. Soon Deirdre finds out about Luke’s past life and that he murder many people and was to suppose to kill her because the Queen of faeries told him to. The Queen wants Deirdre gone because of her power she holds and she might take her crown away from the faeries, but she doesn't know what Deirdre can do with her powers. Almost to the end of the book, the people that Deirdre hold dear to are going away one by one because of the Queen. When the Queen captured her best friend James and the person she loves, she goes and tries to save her friend and the person she loves.

I really liked this book because it kept me from falling asleep and it kept me entertained and wanting to read more of it. I rarely read chapter books and now this book changed my mind of reading more chapter books. I think this book is for teenagers but I say to any of ages. If you like reading about fantasy, romance, action and supernatural then this is the book, you have to read this book!
