Pretty Girl - 13

The book I have been reading is called Pretty Girl-13 written by Liz Coley. Liz Coley has written other books but I have not read them. I'm completely new to this author. At the age of 13 Angie Chapman was kidnapped on a Girl Scout camping trip. At the age of 16 she returns home, remembering nothing about the events of the past 3 years. This novel opens up with a bone-chilling account of her capture and then moves forward to the present day. The author believes that even if someone went through the worst of situations, they can still persevere with the healing power of courage, hope, and love.

Angie Chapman was only 13 when she got kidnapped during a Girl Scout camping trip. She was isolated in a cabin stuck with the man who put her there in the first place. To make sure she didn't escape he had her chained up so she could only reach some places in the cabin but never the door. Angie was there for 3 years. When she suddenly finds herself walking home with no memory of how she got there and what was happening. She noticed her body and how her fingers were longer and she had bumps of her chest now, and how the clothes she was wearing were not her style at all. Angie found her way home, opened the front door and yelled “Mom, I'm home!!” Margie(mom) came running down the stairs with tears in her eyes. Then came her dad with tears and  his voice cracking asking her where she was for the past 3 years. Angie felt uncomfortable so she locked herself in the bathroom looking at her reflexing in the mirror feeling disgusted at what she was looking at and called herself a monster. Her parents called detective Brogan over immediately, he was explaining to Angie what was happening and what was going to happen. Since Angie didn't remember anything, Brogan decided to schedule an appointment with Dr.Grant . After examining Angie it turns out she had D.I.D(dissociative identity disorder). They're multiple personalities she developed to help her cope with the trauma of being kidnapped. They're referred to as Alters. Angie meets the Alters through letters of tape recorders, she also finds out what their purpose was. One of the Alters name is Girl Scout, her Job was to cook and clean for the man. But one day the man decided to take her to the dark bedroom and clean her. He asked her to show him how much she loves him but Girl Scout panicked and just lay there like a stiff board. He began to hit her and his eyes went dark, he went dark. She left and a new Alter was born, Little wife. Little wife didn't want to be hit so her job was to please the man in bed and show him love. Then there was also Tattletale, her job was supposed to keep secrets when she was told not to tell anyone by Angie's yuncle(young uncle). What shocked me was not only did Angie suffer by the man who kidnapped her but also by her favorite uncle. He would “play” with her ever since she was a little kid when he babysat her. So Tattletale has been around for quite a while. The final Alter is Angel. He has colossus wings and carries a huge sword, his job is to give Angie courage and strength.(she fights back when she needs to protect herself).

Angie has a son…..

Now I don't want to tell you the whole story so I'm going to pause here.

I love this book!! I even re-read it. This book has so much Suspense in it and I love suspense. Some of the chapters shocked me and gave me chills. There's one more Alter left but I'm not going to tell because if the readers really want to read this book then they're going to have to find out for themselves. I also really love this book because it has such a good ending! Fellow readers out there, if you really love suspense and horror then this is the book for you!
