The book Fear has no story itself because it is an anthology of stories by 13 different authors. The book was arranged by R. L. Stine so I figured this would be quite a good selection of spooky stories. R. L. Stine being the author of the Goosebumps books, expectations were set fairly high. That being said, there is no theme to it other than to be frightening to read. Still, I would recommend this book to someone who scares very easily or is eight years old. I was honestly a little let down by the stories in the book as they weren't really that scary and some didn't even feel like they had an ending. Not a cliffhanger because some of the stories felt like they were the first chapter of another book. There were about two good stories in the book that made me think and intrigued me a bit. One about murderer who had done his deeds to gain something he'd always longed for, all while playing it off as a joke to his friends. The other story about two high school lovers who weren't exactly what they seemed to be on the outside. Long story short, they both end up like Romeo and Juliet 2.0 with a twist of shape shifting. After completing this book, I can safely tell you all that there are better books in the world. I felt like this was a book that was just something for fun to occupy time. If you're adamant about getting a horrifying thriller, it'd be best if you look elsewhere.
