The title of my book is “Bronxwood” by Coe Booth. Bronxwood
is basically sequel to “Tyrell” which is another one of novels,
personally I recommend to read the book Tyrell first before you try reading
Bronxwood just because it’ll make more sense when reading it. The theme of this
book is to make the right choices despite the painful consequences.
Bronxwood is about a 16 year old male, Tyrell, he moved back
to Bronxwood from Atlanta and is now living with his friends. His mother is
living alone until Tyrells father gets released from prison, sad thing about it
is the youngest child is in foster because of the mom not being able to take of
him. Tyrell has provided for his mom and has filled in for his father’s absence
making him the man in the house. In certain situations Tyrell has been tested
to do what he has learned which is the right thing. Also what struck me was
that Tyrell’s mother isn't acting like a mom, neither is she trying to work and
provide more for her family to add to that, get her son out of foster care. Tyrell
kind of reminds me of some of the young boys today that I know who are doing
the best of what they have.
I would recommend this book “Bronxwood” because Coe Booth
honestly is a great writer. I also hope for her to make more books with Tyrell
as the protagonist, it's entertains teens. One part that make me not like the
book is that she resolves the the violence related events in the book in real
life there would've been a way worse aftermath.
