The Fault In Our Stars

The book I read is called The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. John Green is also the author of many other amazing books such as Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and An Abundance of Katherines. The Fault in Our Stars is a great heartbreaking, heartwarming, funny and tragic book. It’s also one of my favorite genre of books, romance, but this book has a bit of everything. This book breaks your but at the same time, it gives you hope in a sense in the end. It doesn’t give you too much romance, it has comedy and it thrills you. The Fault in Our Stars would really surprise you especially is you don’t usually read romance novels. I would certainly describe this book as “beautifully tragic”.

This book is about a teen girl named Hazel Grace who, despite her tumor-shrinking medical miracle, has never been anything but terminal. One day Hazel’s parents convince her to attend a Cancer Kid Support group. Little does she know, she made the best decision of her life by going to the group and meeting a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters. Hazel feels depressed but will this change? In the book Hazel says “After I finished, there was quite a long period of silence as I watched a smile spread all the way across Augustus’s face—not the little crooked smile of the boy trying to be sexy while he stared at me, but his real smile, too big for his face. “Goddamn,” Augustus said quietly. “Aren’t you something else” (Green 13). I would defiantly say this could describe the book in a few sentences. This is when it all starts.

I would certainly recommend this book to anyone asking me for a good read. I would especially recommend this book to people who love romantic/comedy books. This book has everything a book lover would want. It has funny, crazy, thrilling and tragic moments. I would even recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t really like romantic books because it truly wonderful and genuine that anyone could fall in love with this story. When read it, you feel like you have a personal connection with the characters. You feel like you get to know the characters though a book which doesn’t happen with many books. I’ve read many romance books but this is by far my favorite one. I would encourage everyone to find out why and how this book is “beautifully tragic.”

  1. I would love to read this book because; I have seen the movie and read the book. Twice. But I would love to read it again because the Book Review itself says the book is: heartbreaking, beautifully tragic, romantic, hopeful, funny, thrilling and has a bit of everything. This book reminds me of romantic comedies like; Life As We Know It, Geek Charming, No Reservations, Dear John, The Notebook and more. I have enjoyed all of these movies so I am absolutely positively that I would enjoy this book. Thanks for sharing Maria!

  2. I want to read this book because; I haven't seen the movie or the book and everyone talks about it all the time. I think the way she explained the book makes me want to read the book even more because she says that she enjoyed the book and her opinion changes mine. At first I didn't really want to read the book, but now I do. Some other books or movies that this reminds me of is Dear John, The Notebook, and Now is good.

But reading this review and hearing all of the good things about it made me change my thoughts on reading.

  4. This reviewer changed my mind; at first I thought that this book was a generic love story. Now I see it has more complex, interesting, and diverse topics. The reviewer did a great job at reviewing the story and discussing the key elements that attract people to read this book. I definitely will add this book to my summer reading list.
