Alex Rider: Scorpia Rising

Alex Rider: Scorpia Rising is a fictional story written by Anthony Horowitz. Scorpia Rising is the 9th and final book in the Alex Rider series. The rest of Horowitz's books can be found here, goodreads.com, along with a few others by Horowitz. Compared to the other Alex Rider books this one serves as a final mission. A tying of loose ends, and a closing to a very well written series of unforgettable stories. Through the story you're taken with Alex on his epic final mission, facing off against the criminal organization Scorpia for a third and final time. Theme wise, this story and the others in the Alex Rider series demonstrate that against all odds, staying cool, calm, and collected will get you through anything.

The story opens on the tarmac of London's City Airport with Zeljan Kurst, the chief executive of the Scorpia, a massive, bald headed man wanted in seventeen different countries. He has come to London at great personal risk on very important business because, "When the fourth-richest man in the world asks you to meet him, and pays you one million dollars just to turn up, it might be worth it to hear what he has to say" (Horowitz 5). The story takes you on an epic mission that Alex will have to embark on to ensure the integrity and safety of Britain's future as a nation. MI6 has to call upon Alex for a 9th and final time to help them take down Scorpia and whatever they may be planning. Accompanying him on his crazy adventure is his legal guardian, best, and only real friend, Jack Starbright, a 28-year-old American woman who originally served as the house keeper for Alex's now deceased uncle Ian Rider.  Fighting a huge international criminal ring, against all odds, Alex has to use all he has in him to get through it.

I would recommend this book and the series to anyone who likes an action-packed adventure or a kid-spy themed story. It's a very well written story that'll keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Full of twists and turns this is a book for anyone who enjoys action and unpredictability. For anyone who hasn’t read the first eight books I would very highly recommend reading the others first, from start to finish so you can fully appreciate and get sucked into the epic story of Alex Rider.

  1. This book sounds really cool. I think that I'd want to read it. It has many things I like. I enjoy books that include over coming all odds, captivating twists, and fighting. Alex Rider seems like a cool character; he seems to have a lot of confidence and courage. The main character really reminds me of Rock Lee from the Naruto franchise. The both look difficult in the face and don't turn back; they don't understand what it means to give up. I love stories that have characters like that. I think i might read this series.
