Introduction
Some Girls Are was written by Courtney Summers. She also wrote Cracked Up to Be. They both are about how your life in high school can be completely flipped upside down, and how two girls overcame it. The theme is that real friends are there for you, and believe you when you need them. Some Girls Are starts at a party. Regina is a part of the “Fearsome Fivesome”. When she checks on her friend, who is passed out, her friend’s boyfriend tries to sleep with her. Not knowing what to do she goes, and talks to Kara, who is in the “Fearsome Fivesome”. The next day she is frozen out. The next few weeks the now “Fearsome Foursome” work to destroy her by bullying. She finds a friend Michael who helps her get through the tough time.

Analysis/Review

I would recommend Some Girls Are if you like stories about high school, and bullying. I liked this book because I felt like I could travel into the story as if I was actually there. You should read this book because it is relatable even if you have never really been bullied. While reading this book I found that I couldn’t put it away.

  1. I would this book because; I like to read complicated and relating to my story books. Also this book reminds me of a book I read earlier called "speak". it gives me pretty good details, it tells me its about a girl going through high school (which im going through so its interesting). it has some taste, like I wonder whats gunna happen next. but I do have to say it doesint give me enough details, also it doesint explain enough. but its good in some way, but I do want to know the citation so I can think back while im reading the book. but other wise I have a good enough idea what its about, and I do want to read it, in my experience and interest.

  2. This sounds like a good book, just not one that i would like to read. I do not like books about drama and romance and stuff like that so i don't think this is the book for me because that is what it is about. It sounds like it might be intriguing to a 13 year old girl who wants to get ready for high school and know what to expect. Some Girls Are has a similar plot to a book we are reading as a class called Speak. Its about a girl who goes to a party and drinks and gets raped and has boy problems and problems with her friends like this book.

  3. This sounds like a good read to someone who is interested in drama/bullying stories, but I'm not interested. The book does sound interesting, especially the party scene. That part would probably be the most engaging to me because it feels you with suspense and gets your heart rushing. I can connect this book to the movie bully, where there are stories about many teen victims who get bullied and harassed in and out of school. I dislike sad stories or stories that make me depressed after I read them so I probably wouldn't read this. Especially because there doesn't seem to be a happy ending.
