Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory written by Roald Dahl, is one of the most famous books written by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl has also written Matilda, The BFG, James and The Giant Peach and many more famous books that have become movies. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fits in with Dahl's style of including fictional plots in real life situations. Dahl incorporates quirky ideas that keep the book interesting and exciting. Dahl displays that you should always be thankful for what you have as the theme of this book. The main character, Charlie, is a boy who is very poor and lives with his family. His family struggles to survive off of the very small amount of money his father makes. Charlie seems to be very unlucky, but not for long.

Charlie lives in the same town as the world famous Wonka Chocolate Factory. He always enjoys the smells of the chocolate factory when he walks by on his way to school. As much as Charlie loves the Wonka Chocolate Factory, his poor family can only afford only one chocolate bar a year for Charlie to enjoy on his birthday. Charlie's grandparents tell Charlie about the factory and all its mysteries. Just when Charlie's family seems to be at a big struggling point, something spectacular happens. Willy Wonka announces that he will put 5 golden tickets in 5 different chocolate bars to be shipped around the world. Only 5 lucky children will find these bars and find the tickets inside of them. This announcement makes Charlie want to eat a chocolate bar even more than he ever has before.

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys about fictional things living inside real life worlds. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a very exciting book that may make you hungry because of how much it talks about candy. If you enjoy more serious books with darker themes, this book may not be the book for you. If you are looking for a book to read, I would recommend this book to be your next read.

  3. I'd be interested in reading this book since it seems to show imagination and a different style of writing. The book sounds intriguing because of how Charlie would react when he gets inside the factory, and see his reactions to all the different sorts of candies. I haven't really seen anything like this in a show or any movie that comes to mind, so that makes me even more interested in reading this book.

  4. I am interested in reading this book because it sounds like a very imaginative book, and I like fantasy books. The part of the book that sounds interesting to me is the part about the mysterious factory, because I also like mystery. This book reminds me of Hansel and Gretel, because they both involve a lot of candy and people who are not what they seem.

  6. I would like to read this book because i have read other Roald Dahl books like: The Big Friendly Giant and Fantastic Mr. Fox. I like to read these imaginary books because there are things in them that dont happen in real life like; Walking, talking, and daring foxes.
