Marie Lu has written Legend and 2 other books in the
legend series. The legend series is Marie Lu’s best work and she plans to
continue to write more books in the series. A young criminal named Day must
survive in the world of poverty and disease. Day must also face the government
who has been trying to bring him down and they have sent their best agent to do
the job. However, Day and the agent trying to stop him find something out about
themselves that will change history forever. This book is a thrilling, post-
apocalyptic novel. It is filled with romance and non-stop action.
Legend starts off by telling you about a post-apocalyptic
world that one of our main characters Day lives in. Day lives with a girl named
Tess that he found on the streets many years before the start of the book. Day
does not live with his family, but they think he is dead. He stays in shadows
to avoid them but secretly gives them money and medicine to keep them alive for
the plague that lives within the city. Day lives the life of an outlaw, always
on the run and always being searched for. The other main character of the
story, June, lives a life almost the opposite of Day. She is a perfect student
born into a rich family on the other side of the city. Her parents were killed
in car accident and she lives with her older brother in an apartment. June does
not know it yet but Day's and June's worlds will soon collide.
I would recommend this book to anyone likes thrilling books
about post-apocalyptic societies and romance. This book fits under many
categories. If I could rate this book out of 10 I would rate it a 7. This book
is a good read but there is many other books that could be read first. It is
very similar to books such as the Hunger Games series or the Divergent Series.
The book is well written and has its moments but the story line sometimes fails
to explain why the world is in ruins. I would save this book and read it when
you have nothing else to read on your reading list.
Book Review by Erik I.
I think I'd really enjoy this book. I enjoy thrillers a lot. I really enjoy a book that keeps you reading with mystery and suspense, making you want to know what's next. Your review makes it seems like it really hook you in. I'm not a fan of being left hanging to know why it is a post apocalyptic world, but the fact that it is attracts me. I enjoy book with a setting like that. The book reminds me of the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. They both have people who steal to survive. It adds an interesting twist to the plot. I think I might actually go and read it. -Jonathan Rus
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds really cool. I love reading any type of fiction books. A lot of people have told me that this book is really good. they have also told me that the book is very intriguing and makes you want to keep reading. I personally love books like this. This book also seem to be quite similar to the Divergent series by Veronica Roth and the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. If it is like these books, then I believe I would love it.
ReplyDeletei think id really lake this book. it sounds like its after a war or something id like to see how the people survived and what happen in there history for them to get there. it says it reminds them of the hunger games and divergent i read both those series and i really like what happens in those books. i once saw my friend reading it and he looked really into the book i want too see what happens when both of them who sound like really different people are going to do when they collide see if they can get along or if they will hate each other.
ReplyDeleteI think I would really like this book and I am interested in reading it. I like how the two main characters have opposite lives and their lives collide; that sounds like it would get me really interested. I wasn't a big fan of post- apocalyptic novels until recently because there is an element of survival that intrigues me and It sounds like this book has a lot of it. I love books that have a lot of action in it but also have romance as well. This books sounds a lot like the Hunger Games and Divergent, which kept me turning pages.
