I
had the opportunity to read the novel Thirteen Reasons Why, By Jay Asher. Jay
Asher has not only written this novel but he’s wrote The Future of US, in which
I have not yet had the chance to read.
After
hearing the devastating news of Hannah Bakers death, Clay Jensen receives box
of tapes on his against his front door. In which he’s curious to what it is he
opens the box, plays the tapes only to find out is recordings that Hannah baker
herself made. With each secret and each person it reveals that Clay himself and
others are somewhat related to her death, and what brought her to her breaking
point. Throughout the day and the night, Clay keeps listening. As he listens
carefully he goes throughout town following Hannah’s steps, and recorded words.
What Clay finds out as he listens changes his life, and I’m sure it changed the
others on the tapes life as well.
This
novel unfolds various plot twist, that shows a since of mystery focuses on Clay
Jensen. Not only does it focus on Clay but it focuses on what really happened
to Hannah Baker and how was he involved. With each tape told in chapters, the
plot advances and grows with each secret revealed. Readers instantly become
drawn into what will happen next, curious of how each person and Clay Jensen
adds up to the death of Hannah Baker.
Some
characters were left somewhat undeveloped, making us as the readers to ask
questions. Thirteen Reasons Why is a real eye catcher, page-turner and it just
keeps you wanting more. In which I’m sure others would enjoy this book.
