My book is called Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, A book
about a 13 teen year old girl fighting for her and her sisters freedom. Laurie
Halse Anderson is also the author of the following speak, fever 1873, twisted,
winter girls and more. A lot of Laurie stories are written by the perspective
of a teenager. The theme of this story is never give up no matter how hard
things get.
In the story Chains A thirteen year old girl slave, Isabel
has to fight for not only her freedom but the freedom of her younger sister
Ruth. But when she meets a boy slave with ties to the patriots asks her to spy
on her owners, who know details about the British invasion. She is unsure at
first. , but when the unthinkable happens to her younger sister Ruth, she is
willing to help anyone who can give her freedom and help her get her sister
back.
I liked this story and I would definitely recommend this
story to everyone. A reason I liked this story is because the author went out
of her way to give the best imagery possible. You feel as if you’re not only
reading the story but as if you are in the revolutionary war with Isabel.
