Written By: Rosa Parks
On December 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks got arrested for refusing
to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated bus, in Montgomery Alabama.
One year later after the boycott ended, segregation on buses was illegal. The
Civil Rights Movement was a huge national cause for African Americans. There is
much more to Rosa Parks’ story than just being arrested. Rosa Parks tells her
side of the story in the struggle for equality for African Americans.
In the book “Rosa Parks, my story” Rosa Parks goes through
an awful struggle fighting for her rights, and equality. Rosa Parks is a strong
African American woman who does not give in for anyone. She is a lovable,
phenomenal woman. Rosa Parks was actively involved in the NAACP which stands
for “National Association for the Advancement of Colored People”. The day Rosa
Parks had gotten arrested for not giving up her seat for a white man, she
wasn’t just tired, all the tired she was, was tired of giving in.
I would recommend this book to everyone whether you’re
black, white, mixed, red, or purple. The best thing about this book is that
Rosa Parks wrote it herself, and you actually get her side of the story instead
of getting someone else’s point of view and it’s just better to hear the real
story.
