Halo: First Strike

Halo-First Strike” is the third book out of Eric Nylund’s, Halo series; “Fall of Reach”, and “The Flood”. This book was based off of the award winning Halo video games out for Xbox.

The Covenant has always put up a fight with the UNSC, earth’s last defense against the religious aliens with the power of the High Prophets. Marines were the first defense against the Covenant, but they failed to protect planets from covenant destruction. A new breed of soldiers were invented, the SPARTAN project. Little children, taken from their homes over night, would be the subjects used for SPARTANs. With various enhancements to their bodies, growth acceleration, bone reinforcement, muscle growth, and other enhancers, they wear the state of the art titanium-A MOLJNIR armor with rechargeable shields, making the war against the covenant, 1 SPARTAN to 100,000 aliens.

After the destruction of the infectious Flood on Halo, Master Chief, SPARTAN 117, John, best-of-the-best, commander of SPARTANs everywhere, uses his survival skills to fly a stolen ship out of the Halo system. He encounters help from marines stranded along the way, and receives word about a Covenant warship flying aimlessly around the systems. Confused, Master Chief journeys off to find this vessel and gather Intel. When he accesses a file terminal on the single handedly commandeered Covenant ship, he soon finds out that the Covenant have discovered the location of Earth, the last highly populated planet left. Master Chief must gather his SPARTANs and create a plan to stop the 500 Covenant warship fleet en route to Earth.

With action in every page, this book will be over before you know it. Danger is around every corner and firefights are everywhere in this book. For gamers and readers looking for action and futuristic technology, that defies the laws of Earth limits, but space’s laws are infinite. Master Chief will learn the hard way, that team work, is everything.
