The title of this book is called “Stargirl”. Written by,
Jerry Spinelli. He has written many other ‘Stargirl’ books, which makes this
story a series! In high school, people will judge you and say many things to
bring you down. But what makes life easier in high school, is if you just
ignore the haters and be yourself. No one knows you as well as you know
yourself and it isn't anyone's business to butt into your problems. Keep your
circle small and be cautious of what you say! One little mistake can ruin your
high school years!
This story is about a high schooler named Stargirl who has
just recently transferred to a new school. The environment there is a huge
difference! Stargirl is different from everyone else as well. The way Stargirl
dressed was different from others, her actions, her personality, everything was
different! As she goes on her way to her new school, people find her awfully
strange. Everyone in the school, knew she was a new girl. They often talked
about her as well as she walked in the halls past everyone. They would point
out how weird she dressed and how weird she acted. It was a huge struggle for
Stargirl when it came to making friends and trying to fit in! How would she
survive high school? Leo, a student who goes to the same school, falls in love
with her after a few weeks. He struggles with many things while being with her;
especially the fact that she isn't normal like the rest of the students
throughout the school. People are often talking about her. Then one day, Leo
told Stargirl something that may change who and how she is in the future. Leo
wanted her to be normal.
I enjoyed this book but there are many other books out there
that I enjoyed more. I recommend this book though if you’re going through any
type of bullying, or being known as someone “weird” and not “normal”. Maybe
even being called “different”! If not, I still recommend this book. If you like
realistic fiction books, I think this book would be a perfect fit for you! It
involves friendship, a bit of bullying or making fun of, and relationships! If
you're not interested in realistic fiction books or anything involving
friendship and relationships, I recommend you not read this book.
