Kinda Like Brothers

Author: Coe Booth
Other books : Bronxwood,Kendra,And Tyrell

This Urban Fiction book is about a 12 year old boy named Jarret who had to take summer school because he was failing the 6th grade, while his mother was at home and was a foster mother for other children.

What happens in the story is between the bond of Jarret and a Another older boy who was being taken care of, who's name was Kevon. And the way they met was because Kevon's younger sister Treasure was injured and they were taken away from their parents, and he refused to let the case workers separate Kevon and his sister. They were then turned over to Jarret's mother, till they found a home.
"Ever since my mom died,we've been on our own. One day my dad left saying he was going to his new job so he can come back and get things straight"-Kevon. "My mom woke me up telling me that the new kids were coming over and that one of them were hurt"-Jarett. This made me foreshadow, about what was next because these quotes were mostly the ones to help lead up to the conflicts like how Jarett's mother was always busy babysitting because she would get another baby every month. And it also leads up to his bond between him and Kevon.

I liked this book because it changed who the characters were before and it makes the conflict go with its title. This book definitely targets everyone because this book tells us how people don't need to be blood related to be family, because family is based on the bond. I definitely know that whoever reads this story will like it. And there's even more things about the story like how, Jarret and his friend Ennis were producers for their own movies, fights/ arguments between everyone; Because it tells about someone's life and their struggles.

For example taking in a child to foster, his name was Hugo, he was three and he was burned by an iron to the chest by his mother. This story is sad, adventurous, and relates to reality.
