Eleanor & Park

The book that I will be showing you today is called Eleanor& Park by Rainbow Rowell. She is a awesome author with books like Fangirl and Landline. I can't say much about them since I haven't read either of them yet, but just by reading Eleanor & Park, I know that she is a very detailed and interesting author. Eleanor & Park is about the new girl name Eleanor and a boy name Park, at first they didn't like each other but because they sat together on the bus everyday, they started to talk and soon after they fell in love. But in the end they couldn’t be together and she had to move away.

To explain the book to you in more detail, it begins with a girl name Eleanor, she recently moved to the flats and she knows no one. She sits with a boy name Park on the bus since he was the only one who let her sit by him. They soon started to bond with each other with comic books. But because of her mean step dad and her powerless mom, she had to keep the comics hidden from her siblings. Since Eleanor and Park just started talking to each other, they haven't gotten close enough to be physically touching each other and such, but one day Park held Eleanor's hand, not by accident but on purpose.

Park wanted to get close with Eleanor because he thought she was a cool person but he didn't know how, so that was the first thing he could think of. Since that day, Eleanor and Park have gotten a lot closer and she's been wanting to see him more often, then one day Eleanor knew that they were finally dating when she saw Park’s face on the bus. Eleanor couldn’t tell anyone but her two friends at school, because if anyone from home found out, she would be kicked out again. Park wanted to tell the world that Eleanor was his but because of her personal issues, he kept it a secret too.

They have been dating for almost four to five months, and soon later words spread like fire. Everyone eventually found out that Eleanor and Park were going out and her step dad found out as well. That afternoon she found her room wreaked and found a note from her step dad saying “do you think you can make a fool out of me? this is my house do you think you can hore around my neighborhood right under my nose and i’m not going to find out is that what you think? i know what you are and its over” (Rowell, pg. 278). After that Eleanor had to run or her step dad was going to make her life a living hell. She ran to Park’s house and told him. He was in disbelief but didn't want her to leave because he would miss her to death. But she finally decided to go to her uncle's house in Minnesota. After that Park never saw Eleanor again, neither did he see her family again either.

The reason I love this book so much is because it shows that not everyone's life is perfect and not every story has a happy ending. Not everyone will love this book because of the ending, but it's still a book to read because it gives you a different perspective on a person’s life and books itself. How this book is so different, unique, and why you should read it is because the book really explains itself by giving many details and realistic events in the story that revolves around Eleanor and it gives you a different view on a person's life by showing all of Eleanor's flaws and imperfections she has to live with.
