Sadako's learned to run before she learned to walk. When the bomb hit she became very sick. She spent her time in a nursing home making paper cranes . This made her very happy and helped others.

The important characters in this book are Sadoko’s parents, brothers , sister, and best friend. The important conflicts are her dizziness returned, but Sadako decided not to tell her family about it.
