The Hunger games were written by Suzanne Collins. She has
also written Catching fire and mocking jay, which are also books in the hungergames trilogy, she has also written the series the underground chronicles, and
many more. This book is not too different to the other books she has written
that I have read like catching fire. Since them both are written about the life
of Katniss Everdeen and her district, District 12. She lives in a dystopia,
where different types of jobs are specified by districts, like District 12 is
for mining, and District 5 is power and electricity. Each district has there
own special part in running Panem. Some of the districts want to rebel against
the Capitol, who put on an event called the hunger games and they two tributes
from each district. Then the tributes fight to be the last survivors of the
games to win supplies and food for their districts.
The book is about Katniss Everdeen and her Mother, Ms.
Everdeen and her younger sister, Primrose Everdeen, who have Katniss hunt for
food although its illegal for people leave the district and to hunt but all the
community members know about her hunting with her friend, Gale Hawthorne, both
very skilled with their hunting weapon, Katniss’s preferred weapon is the bow
and arrow, while Gale’s is some homemade traps. Many families in the district
specialize in something like Katniss’s mom is a healer, and Gale’s dad mines,
and another important character Peeta Mellark’s family makes baked goods. One
day the capital calls for all the districts to gather in their town hall to
have the tributes bee randomly chosen to fight. They all wait for the names to
be called; one of the names is Peeta Mellark, the other tribute is Primrose
Everdeen. But Katniss won’t allow for her sister to be killed in the Games, so
she did something that no one has done in many years, she volunteers to take
Prim’s place as tribute. If you want to know more you have to read the book for
yourself.
I would definably recommend this book to anyone who likes
action and adventure, and to someone who is new to the genre. This will keep
you gripping on to this book so hard that you may lose you conception of time
reading this book since you’ll be reading this book nonstop. I will give this
book a 8/10 because in the beginning it does take a while to get to the action.
But in over view I love this book and the other books in the trilogy. YOU MUST
READ IT BY THE END OF THE MONTH!! This book is amazing. Just read it now!
Book Review by Adam E.
I loved this book to because it made you want to keep reading it and you can't stop. Katniss is a very brave girl who stuck up for her sister Primrose while she was picked for the Hunger Games. Katniss is only a 16 year old girl risking her life but at least its not Prim. While in the Hunger Games she met this 12 year old little girl named Rue. Although Rue was from a different district they stayed together knowing that one of them will have to die to win. When Rue dies then Katniss is heartbroken but she has to stay strong for her and her district. Some of the people in the Hunger Games ganged up and killed the other districts. In the middle of the arena was a big cornucopia where they had weapons and food for the fighters. I think that you should read this book and find out what else happened in this series. You wont regret it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your review for this book. This book will make you find yourself reading every single chance you can. This book is written wonderfully and has a very interesting story line to it. This book is about a teen named Katniss that has to participate in The Hunger Games. Katniss actually wasn't the girl from her district to be sent to the games, it was actually her sister but Katniss volunteered over her sister Prim. Where the book takes place, it is split up into different city type places called districts, Katniss lives and is from District 12. When Katniss gets to the games, she faces many challenges including having to be around many deaths but in the end of the games she is able to make it out alive with the other person picked from her district, Peeta. This is just a taste of how good the story is. I would rate this book a 9 out of 10 because I didn't find any spots in the book that would bore me. The reason this book makes you constantly read it is because of how interesting and it always has something interesting happening. Throughout the whole read I was constantly finding it hard to put this book down, I would definitely recommend anyone to read these books as soon as possible.
