World War Z

This is one of two amazing books Max Brooks has written. The first book is a guide about how to survive the apocalypse but it is not connected to this book.

The story follows multiple survivors of the “Z War.” Camera crews follow survivors and ask them the same questions such as where they went after the outbreak or how they managed to survive the hordes of Zs. The book really has no theme other than what to do in an event like this or survival skills.

The story is about the fight for survival as the undead sweep the nations across the world clean of order, leaving chaos in their path. In the beginning it follows Kweng Jishu, a PLA veteran and medic. He examines a boy in China who is apparently infected with this virus that turns people insane and indestructible. The book goes on continuing to show characters fighting off Zs. Another example is when Gavin Blair, a CIA agent, is hired to protect some celebrities who he thinks would be better off dead. When the Zs invade the bunker they are housed in, they all go insane because they have not had any real training.

I really enjoyed the book because of its ability to be short and to the point. It was long enough just to keep things interesting but not overstretching events. Read this book immediately; don’t read his other book until you have read this book. The other book, even though it is only a guide, it will somewhat spoil this book.
