The Power of Six

I read the book The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore. Two more books he has written are I Am Number Four and The Rise of Nine, these few books are part of the series he has written called the Lorien Legacies. This book and series is about young alien kids who were brought to Earth to be saved from extinction. They brought along Cepans with them who watch over them like their own parents. As you go through this book you will see that being different, surviving, and trying to blend in as best as you could is harder than you think it is.

In The Power of Six, a young girl who goes by the name Marina lives in a small town in Spain. Her and her Cepan hide there from the Mogadorians until she develops her full Legacies. She is Number Seven of the nine that had made it to Earth, and survived. Then the story jumps into the life of Number Four who goes by the name of John Smith, he is running with his friend Sam. He bumps into Number Six, who just goes by Six, as they travel across the United States so they won’t be caught by the Mogs. A love triangle starts to form between Sam, Six, and John which is kind of bad for the friendships between them. As we go back to Marina, she meets a little new orphan, Ella, who is brought to Santa Teresa’s who gets fondly attached to her. Marina’s Cepan, Adelina, starts to not live in the reality and fights with her about this is their life. Marina knows this isn’t true so she finds her chest that contains what her late parents had left for her. Then the orphanage is attacked by Mogs. When they find out about another Number who lives farther away they drive around trying to find her and train to fight. Eventually the Mogs catch up to them, almost killing everyone. But they got away just in time, as they run more visions from John come about Marina who looks like she’s in danger. They all make it over there to fight a battle that is the just the beginning of the end.

I think this wasn’t to bad of a book. There were a lot of parts that weren’t as action-packed as the next but it was still a very enjoyable novel. I think people should read this book because it gets a reader deeper into the lives of the characters, it also makes you want to finish the series and see what is going to happen next. The suspense is dreadful which I think is a great gift that a writer should have. Pittacus Lore is a wonderful writer and I would be honored to read another one of his enchanting books.
