Hell Phone

The book I read is called Hell Phone. The author of this book is William Sleator. William Sleator is also the author of another thrilling book called The Boy Who Couldn’t Die. Many of his books are heart-pumping creepy horror stories.  This author is a great choice when it comes to science fiction and thrillers. The theme of this book would be make risks even if you don’t know what the outcome of  situation will be.

Nick buys a used cell phone to call his girlfriend Jen. Soon he starts to get creepy calls from strange people. Nick is curious and decides to help the people call from the other end of the phone, but this move ends up in a huge mess.  Nick finds himself stealing, and lying all because of the phones devilish games and the people who are calling him. Nick finds out that there is a woman named Lola and a guy named Rusty is trying to kill her. Nick helps her, but that leads to his consequence of death. Now Nick must face real living hell and use his knowledge from the phones games to escape. The quote from this novel which I found the most interesting was "you killed him! “It clearly stated what the main character had done. Nick seemed so innocent; it was hard to believe that he killed somebody.

I enjoyed this book a lot because of its creepy plot. I hate when books take forever to get into the story, but this isn't the case with Hell Phone. I couldn't put it down! I especially like how the author used nicks weakness in the beginning of the book to make a very suspenseful ending. Nick became stronger and changed by doing what his instincts told him to so he could free himself. Wiliam Sleator did an amazing job describing the details and made the story and characters come to life. This book is definitely a book I would recommend only  if you want a thrilling and creepy read.
