The Lightning Thief

The book that I have read for this book review is TheLightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I thought the book was pretty good and was not too hard of a read. I mostly enjoyed it throughout the book and it was a pretty nice diversion. There are some things about it I liked and did not like however. 

The book starts out with a boy named Percy who has dyslexia and ADHD. During a field trip with his class, Percy is attacked by his math teacher, who turns out to be a harpy. Unexpectedly, Percy's Latin teacher throws him a pen that turns into a sword. Percy defeats his math teacher and Percy's Latin teacher, who is actually the centaur, Chiron, takes him to a place called Camp Half blood. At this point it is revealed that Percy is a demi god, which is a half god half human. He goes to camp and is accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. Percy then has to set out on a journey to find Zeus' lightning bolt. 

Overall I thought the book was good. I would definitely recommend it to someone else. I actually kind of think that this book has a certain kind of group it would appeal to. I say check the book out and if you don't like the first book do not continue to read the series.
