The Colorado Kid

The book The Colorado Kid is by Stephen King. This book is about two kids finding a dead body on a beach during their morning run. It is up to a pair of old reporters and their intern to crack the code and find out who the he really is. This book is for those who enjoy a good mystery and who enjoy Stephen Kings writing. The Shining, The Stand, Carrie, and the running man are some of his many other books.

On April 24, 1980, two teenagers came across a body. Slumped against a trash can, and carrying no ID, the body showed no clear indicators of foul play. Cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation. Every potential clue leads to small revelations, but bigger mysteries. Though the investigation is head scratching everything seems inexplicable, from how the fish-dinner stomach contents could line up with his ferry boat crossing, to the single Russian coin in his pocket. More than a year later, thanks to a sharp-eyed rookie spotting an out-of-state cigarette tax stamp, the John Doe becomes known as The Colorado Kid. Eventually the man's identity is traced, and he is identified as James Cogan of Nederland, Colorado. Everyone involved with the Case is at loss was this murder? And if so who killed James Cogan?

I enjoyed this book. For anybody who enjoys Stephen king will also enjoy it. The only problem I have with it is the way the characters speak. They all have that odd way of talking, other than a few times I have had to reread sentences to make sense of a situation I love the book. It is a great way tag along with a police investigation without even having to leave the comfort of your own home. There is no better way to find out how James Cogan ended up on the beach, than read the book.
