Thirteenth Child

I will introducing the book “Thirteenth Child” and the author of this book is Patricia C. Wrede. I haven’t read his other books but this book is the best one I have read so far. The general overview of this book is about a thirteenth child named Eff who struggles at everything because she can’t control magic right off the bat. For the unlucky children they have to learn how to cast a magic spell. Unlike the seventh child Eff’s twin brother has knowledge and it’s natural for all the seventh children to cast magic right away. This book is a fantasy book and the theme of this book takes place in the country with barns and crops. There are 10 children who are still with their parents and 3 of the adult kids are at college.

It’s about the thirteenth child in a family being the unlucky child of the family being unable to cast magic and is unwanted by other many people, Eff’s twin name lan helps Eff how to cast magic to protect herself. Lan is a special child so he gets to take lessons at an early age like a prodigy and whatever he gets taught, he teaches Eff the lessons he learned. Lan protects Eff and they both help each other face their challenges.

I like the book because it’s a fantasy book and the beginning really hooked me because it reminded me of an anime I watched, also the first page sounded really interesting. This book book is for people who likes magic or reading fantasy books. I highly recommend it.
