The Cupcake Queen

The book I have read was called “The Cupcake Queen.” Heather Hepler wrote the book, she as also wrote “Jars of glass”,  “love maybe?”, and her latest one “Frosted Kisses” made back in 2015. The cupcake queen is most likely a realistic fiction, and also has some romance between the main character and someone else.

Basically this book is about this girl name Penny and she moves to a small town named Hog’s Hollow with her mother and grandma. Penny gets thrown out like a piece of trash by the Queen Bee named Charity after ruining her birthday party. Throughout living she meets Tally and they both become friends very quick. She also starts falling in love with a dude named Marcus, who is sadly already dating Charity. We can only figure out if Penny can survive the new things showing up in her life, and one major choice she will have to choose.

In my opinion the book was ok, let me explain. It had very likable characters like Tally. She is seen wearing dark clothing and would look like she works at Hot Topic. But without her Penny wouldn't know anything and would have been a normal character. I also liked the role the author placed Penny as. A girl who works at a cupcake shop who had moved to a small, and quiet town. Everything in the book was a nice pasted book and worked perfectly with the romance happening between Penny and Marcus. Only thing I disliked about it was the ending but that's just my opinion, I won’t spoil anything though. Another thing I didn’t like was basically what ⅓ of the book was about, and that was the romance. I don’t really like romance books, I don’t really know why yet but I would like to know why I don’t. Since this book is romance, and realistic fiction with the main character as a girl, I would think this book is made for girl teens and how struggling it might be. Not everyone will like the book as much as others, and I was one of them. Overall this book was good without the romance, it showed how well adapted Penny lives in Hog’s Hollow. But if you like romance books or just realistic books I would highly recommend this to you.
